Our professor made zero attempts to try and explain this, and only referred to the textbook which did a terrible job at explaining this concept. It's weird that Americans are taught to add to both sides in algebra e.g at 7:35 you +8 to both sides, whereas in Britain we're taught to move the 8 to the other side and change from + to - or vice versa. Just a weird little thing I noticed :)
