Another helpful tutorial; thanks for sharing. Do you still use SET and SOL for the included kit decals that recommend water only? It would be great to see a step-by-step "mini How To" on how you apply the more simple kit decals
@TheScalemodelingChannel9 жыл бұрын
alonzo23g I only use SET and SOL when i need to form the decals to the shape of the part. I mostly apply some SOL on pretty much everydecal just to set it in place a bit more. I'll add the tutorial to the Video To Do list ;)

I greatly enjoy watching your videos. I have the Tamiya Nissan GT-R (R35) that I want to carbon fiber the hood. I came back to watch this video to refresh your method of doing this. The GT-R hood has the two vents and I would like those to be black or the body color. What advise could you give to obtain this look without ruining the carbon fiber?
@TheScalemodelingChannel8 жыл бұрын
+Platoon2611 If the hood is already fully carbon decalled id just paint then, if you still need to apply the decals id paint those black first then make a template with masking tape from the hood and transfer that template tot the decals sheet and cut it out.

+elie saliba A 1 piece it a lot harder to apply+ i wanted a patrn that split in the middle.

Hi, very nice video, I just wanted to ask, do your overlap the carbon Decal? Do you bother to check the alignment of the two parts of the carbon Decal? Thanks.

I try not to overlap and do try to match the patrn

I really enjoy your videos. Lots of great information. I wanted to ask, that's a pretty cool looking hair dryer you're using. Can you tell me what model it is or where you purchased it? Thanks!

No idea, got it years and years ago as a presant. Its from a brand called princess

Thanks for that info. Certainly wouldn't have guessed the brand to be Princess, but I like the look of it.

Zero Paints are supposed to be a base coat / clear coat system which would mean that they grey you're using should be flat. Is this the case here or is it an actual gloss coat?
@TheScalemodelingChannel9 жыл бұрын
+homewrecker44 This is the case, The grey was semi flatt

Are you letting the Q-tip roll across the decal or are you holding it in place and letting it rub across it?

Thanks for the tutorial. Just a question...why do you rime and paint first? Can't you simply apply the decal straight over the bare plastic, or at the least, just the primer? Thanks mate! :D
@TheScalemodelingChannel8 жыл бұрын
It won't stick well on plastic. Primer could be done. Although of the decals aplication is sloppy and does not cover everything the primer will show through. When painting it in a matching color first your mistakes won't show up that well

+The Scalemodeling Channel Cheers. So black primer will probably be ok by the sounds of it. I just had my first crack at doing the engine bay of my McLaren F1 and made a right mess of my first piece. I think I may have used too big a peace. What do you do with the excess decal after application? Thanks for your help. I really enjoy your channel with your Porsche 918 inspiring me to have a crack at carbon decals. I wish i'd known there was only 1 sheet in the packet though as I'm going to need more which is an issue as mine came from Hiroboy in the UK and I'm in Australia. Nobody stocks it here doh! 😯

If the cut off is big enough to use another time ill put it in a bag with the others and safe them for the next time.

Hey, ik heb ook 2 paar carbon decals gekocht van scalemotorsports, maar weet niet goed welke verf eronder moet ? Gebruik je altijd gunmetal grey bij carbon decals ? Maxim
@TheScalemodelingChannel8 жыл бұрын
Ik gebruikt altijd gun metal of metallic grijs. Als ik dan een klein stukje mis of te kort kom dan valt dat niet zo op omdat de kleur eronder in de buurt komt van de decal kleur.

@TheScalemodelingChannel8 жыл бұрын

@TheScalemodelingChannel8 жыл бұрын
Is it a metallic color? If not them just wet sand and clear coat, if it is. Apply another color coat and then clear

Thanks! And do I need micro set and micro sol to apply the wrap, and I noticed you dipped the wrap in a liquid, was that water? If it is water do I have to dip it?
@TheScalemodelingChannel9 жыл бұрын
Its not a Wrap, these are decals. For decal applcation i would advice you to use both SET and SOL. Decals need to be put in water for them to be activated and seperated from the backing paper.

Love the video, very informative. I was wondering how would you apply this to parts which have a complex shape? For example, a frame for a scale motorbike? Drawing around the part wouldn't be an option, I don't think, to create the template. Yet i've seen some models where this has been done (see link). Any thoughts or ideas? cs.scaleautomag.com/sca/modeling_subjects/f/36/t/55711.aspx?PageIndex=1

+ray twrror Apply masking tape on the areas you want to have decals. cut that to size. and you have your template.
