I’ve had a colony of neocaridina for about three years now. After seeing this, I’ll be getting caridina shrimp for my other tank when it’s open. For now it houses a very ill-tempered and very not shrimp-safe female betta and it will remain her home for the rest of her (hopefully long) life.

Hmm Thats the exact same substrate I used and my aquarium has plenty of java ferns and other plants and has a sponge filter and an oxygen stone, and my lights are relatively new, so this video is helpful to me as I know I can introduce these shrimp into my aquarium.

Thank you for your helpful video. May i ask what co2 regulator is in the video?
@andrebenoit404 Жыл бұрын
I'd highly recommend most people just go to a nearby water store and fill up some 5 gallon jugs with RO water instead of getting their own system if they live near one.

What are your thoughts on the shrimp keepers who promote avoiding water changes? Enjoyed your video.
@rockyluc Жыл бұрын
Nobody promotes avoiding water changes, what you should avoid is a large water change, you should never do any water change that >15%. You may get away with CRS, since they're the hardiest among the Caridina, but when you move up to any higher tiers like pinto, you will be in trouble.

About the amonia and nitrine... With just plants there is basically none of that cause fish and shrimp etc. start that cycle by giving amonia into the water
@Danny-MOG Жыл бұрын
Hi, the ammonia leaching from aquasoils is enough to create a much bigger bacteria colony than the few fish or shrimps used in fish-in cycles, it's also safer for the animals to start the cycle with aquasoil, rather than with them or fish food. Aquasoil cycling also eliminates nh4 and no2 spikes when introducing animals 😊
@tommyfranke7494 Жыл бұрын
@@Danny-MOG so (my English ain't the best XD) the soils do indeed release quite a lot of ammonia? As far as I was told they do not release that much. I might do some test measurements to see for myself cause maybe I've been told wrong xd
@Danny-MOG Жыл бұрын
They release a ton! ADA Amazonia will leach for even a month, you'll never see a greener nh4 test 🤭 Tropica (the one I used in this video) leaches for a week or so, less than ADA, with daily water changes 😊 innert gravels or sand don't leach ammonia, it's just the 'aquasoil' types.

Nice looking aquarium and good tips!:) Question: how come you don't use 40% established tank water? Whenever I setup or rescape a rank I use water from my other aquariums and then you don't have to wait weeks or days. Cheers

Well it's only been 2 months, so nothing major, already at 2nd generation and having to give some away, but I'm planning some hybridisation as soon as my other colonies grow. Shrimp rack tour coming soon though and you'll see them there :)
