Great video. I would like to say thank you. Last year, i had a somewhat lengthy conversation with you on bobcat trapping. This year, I haven't really started trapping. I've just been running a couple dozen hear and there after work between rain days for a total of 240 individual trap checks 10 nights on 2 dozen sets (all I got time for between work). Normally, I catch 5 to 10 cats in an entire season. Well, after conversing with you, I started watching your cat trapping videos in length over and over on mute, of course. I started looking at your land contours, then tried to incorporate your methodology to my wooded, pasture mixture (not being able to see tracks boo). Well, I'm at 4 cats already, and I haven't even started really trapping yet. Come January when I take a few weeks off i will be getting with the cat trapping. Thanks for the info. Keep it up.

Enjoy your video and the country. I will say your idea on bait and your your approach is I little different than mine and I'm theorizing that in your harsher weather conditions up there ur coyotes might be a bit more responsive to anything that might be a possible meal. But you obviously have a system that works very well for you. We have a very high population of coyotes here in KS but they eat very well too.
@jeromycooley-outwestadvent5790 Жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you. Each area has different things that attract coyotes, or spook them. In my area it takes very little attractions. Thanks for a good point

@jeromycooley-outwestadvent57905 ай бұрын
@@swamplivingadventures4574 I definitely like the Duke #2 square jaw. They do hold as well as any trap on the market. I have yet to have a pullout. As far as foot damage I would say it really depends on how much the animal struggles. I’ve got several different brands of traps, and the Duke #2 are my go to

Good luck out there. There is a lot of good information out there in KZbin land, and with some time it becomes very easy. If I could give anyone new to trapping coyotes a tip it would be that a coyotes NUMBER ONE TOOL is his nose… it can work in your favor, or against you. Out west here, with bait and lure, less is waaaaaay more. If I could learn to trap coyotes again I would not let myself use anything besides urine at a set. It would help teach me the right spot to put my set, and the right spot to put my trap within the set. Stay tuned for part three. I’ll go into detail about this topic. Thanks for your support
@tomkatoutdoor63742 жыл бұрын
Yes. If you don’t have 100 to catch your numbers will be off. For years I’d catch 50-60 on just 2 farms here in ks. My job changed and now I have more time to trap and picked up other farms now I drive 130 miles a day and like you pick up yotes 2-10 a day over a 45 day span I catch a bunch. And I don’t start until after the first of the year. And it starts here in kansas like November 20. And you have good videos. Keep them coming. !!!
