Usually I just use a 20-30lb mono leader and a size 1-1/0 hook depending on bait size for the small canal tarpon like this!

So… a caught my first tarpon a couple years ago in Port of the Islands (slice’o heaven there!). Posted my pic on fb and it was taken down with 20 min. People were all over me for pulling the tarpon out of the water. I have since learned you’re supposed to release them while still in the water unless they’re over either 42” or 48”. 🤦🏻♂️ Glad to see you’re having fun bro! Do you go out in the Gulf much?
