Although they tolerate warmer water than trout I wouldn't call them warm water species. Their preferred habitat is cold northern lakes.

I’m not an expert on pike on the fly but I would imagine you want an 8 or 9 weight rod. I use a 5 for Brook Trout and some of the streamers are a bit awkward to cast so I can’t imagine a musky sized fly.

Hahah are you serious? I've seen with my eyes a 100lb fluorocarbon leader get cut like nothing by a relatively smal fish
