Nice to see that the orange springtails are still thriving.

I have a bunch of tiny grey/brown round type of springtail living on top of my aquariums, they live on the duckweed and around underside of lid where air stone bubbles up. They seem to like the film left on surface after fish food flakes.

All my springtails like to gather on biofilm that forms on water surface - I think it's very common across different species of springtails.

That sounds like mites or aphids tbh

Aphids often comes with plants and flowers my wife buys at trader joes and farmers markets in NYC 🙂

Good to know in case i spill some. I keep them for clean up crew for reptiles bioactive terrariums
@4me3 ай бұрын
don't you worry about spilling - some of them are going to escape no matter what you do 😁I have them in all my terrariums and paladarium. Use them mostly for feeding my fish - that's something heavily overlooked in this hobby, though fish fry and small adult fish enjoy Springtails greatly! I have videos showing it 😉

Dear Michael, I’m in danger of losing my way ! I’ve been keeping a variety of creatures in various large jars with floating and emergent plants for at least seven months, following your example and learning from you, God bless you. I can’t see why I shouldn’t continue, combining the now 13 jars plus added aged water and extra gravel into a 25 Imperial gallon tank. I’ve never done a water change, as you would expect! The accumulated mulm nourishes the plants and Isopods, so why should I change the substrate n waste precious depth of water as with ‘dirted’ tanks 🤷🏼♀️ God bless all you do 🙏✝️. ✌️🇷🇺☮️🇺🇦✌️. 🙋♀️🤍🇮🇱✌️

You are learning as you go on the right path no matter which way you turn 😊That is the beauty of learning using small tanks for testing all and any ideas and see how you can scale it up. Keep it up and enjoy learning and discovering the world of wonders! ✌

I’m feeling pretty guilty, Michael, having watched my original Yoda(I’m fairly sure)lay a line of multiple eggs over an inch long which I then coldbloodedly removed 😢God forgive me 🙏✝️

We all do what we feel is right to do. Some decisions could be tough and may not be popular. Nevertheless...we do it for what we believe is right thing to do or necessary to make things better even if it hurts our feelings. Most of the time we fail, but we learn from mistake and make it better the next time. That is the way of life. Feeling guilt is the greatest acknowledgment - you leveled up in the learning progress of creating✌
