How to Catch Worms with Walnuts

Catch more bait than you need using this trick. Black walnuts ripen in the fall and contain Juglone, a chemical that is toxic to fish and apparently earthworms too.
Soaking fresh walnuts in water will create a "tea" that will drive worms out of their holes within seconds. Because it is toxic to worms, be sure to rinse them in fresh water immediately before placing into bedding.
The first time I tried this, I was surprised with the results and even caught a 6 pound buffalo using one of the fresh caught worms!

What's interesting about this is the little effort needed to get those resources. In a survival situation, where energy conservation may be important, this is a really great way for getting an easy resource for fishing. Awesome video!

In my childhood, I heard that the Indians used walnuts to catch fish in the creek. Said that it took the oxygen out of the water without hurting the fish. Amazing to see this work. Thank you so much.

@78LeeCY I was gonna say that's a funny joke but then I looked at your channel. You tell the walnut trees not to harm the soil, not me. And helpless or not, those worms are my bait, and no matter how many I harvest, there will still be millions more in the ground to do their work.

Very interesting. Might fill your bucket before breaking the hulls. This gets allot more worms at one time, then digging for them. I wouldn't worry too much about it getting in the water though. I'm guessing a ton of them fall off the tree into the water already.

You cant do that because then you cant carry it. The river is likely far from the trees. And if you're searching for walnuts or would slow you down.

two thumbs up! Where did you learn this great trick? Could be the iodine too. If it's the tannins, then there's a lot of things this trick would work with. One thing that comes to mind is acorns. I'd like to see some video responses trying other things like plant's with juglone, or stuff with tannins to see what it is causing the worms to rise so fast.

Yes it is good for fungal infections of the skin used externally like ringworm and athletes foot. Taken internally is said to rid the body of parasites like tapeworms, pinworms, etc. Caution using this around your yard as it will kill most any plant and is toxic to horses.
