I just watched three different videos with three different dudes. Talking about such an unnecessary. Jargon and you broke it down and under 5 minutes. Thank you so much. I am sitting in Walmart parking lot. I was about to go home and say forget it. I feel confident now that I can do this you rock.

That a jargon as you call it is to make sure it is done correctly and safe. She left out many things that should never be left out. Videos that cut corners get homes burned down and people in the ER.

Great video. Finally, a how-to video that doesn't go too fast or hide what you are doing with your hands. And the point that the white wire goes in the middle could be invaluable if you can't see the wires. However, since you are gearing the video for true beginners, it might be a good idea to warn/remind folks to make darn sure it is unplugged until the whole process is complete. It might seem obvious, but I have heard of electricians making that mistake.

Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. There were a few differences with my dryer (there wasn't a white wire hanging inside dryer and there was a green wire already hooked into the green screw). I just attached the cord wires as per your vid and put the green wire with the other and it worked great. One small issue was that no matter how hard I tried. I could not get the cord's green wire to reach the green screw and also allow the other wires to be attached. I solved this by not putting cord wires through hole and bending metal cover. Oh and I cannot stress enough to make sure that breaker is off. I asked wife, a few days back, to check and see if dryer had it's on breaker and for some reason I assumed that she flipped it off but didn't see that she didn't until i was done and went to turn it back on. I know I turned 7 shades of pale when I saw I was flirting with 220v

Sendy, thanks for making this video! I just bought a new washer and dryer and discovered that the new cord I bought for my dryer would not fit into my old wall receptacle, so I will have to buy a new updated receptacle for that. Another thing I noticed is how easy it was to attach the "relief" that holds the power cord in-place. The cord relief that came with the cord will not fit properly to the bracket on the back of my dryer, so that will be another project :)
@Skywolfe14 жыл бұрын
You should install a strain relief for the wires as they pass into the back of the dryer. This especially important on a dryer since they vibrate so much.

Great video one final thing to add. The wiring for 3 and 4 plug hookups are in the owner manual for the dryer. I recommend you check it out just incase you dryer requires an extra step. For example my Samsung dryer had a green yellow wire tied to chassis ground and somewhere internally to neutral for the previous three wire configuration. I had to tie the yellow green to the neutral leg to isolate chassis ground and the neutral leg.
@nurseshanel54724 жыл бұрын
Mia My grounded connector was also green and yellow, so I’m connecting it to the neutral

If it has not already been mentioned, It is very very very important that the loose white wire (it may be green with a yellow stripe on older dryers) is connected to the center terminal along with the white wire from the 4 prong plug. This also is super important if you are changing from a 4 prong to a 3 prong, that extra white wire (it may be green with a yellow stripe on older dryers) MUST to be connected to the ground screw. Electrical shock may occur.

Ok smarty , gotta 3 prong, green, not white going to ground screw. 4 prong has green white red black. Do I place original, ( from dryer) green, onto the middle screw with white wire from 4 prong, or do I place dryer green wire together with green wire from 4 prong ? Anxious to hear reply

nice video, sendy. electric cookstoves have the identical wiring procedure. ground screws are always green. on older dryers. there is a strap, or jumper from the neutral to the dryer case or ground. remove it! if you can't find a green ground screw (older machines) attach the green ground wire to the dryer/stove case. the code changed 20 years ago, nice to see people doing it right. women are more thorough about tasks like the one shown. hard to believe these appliances were incorrectly connected to a power source for decades.
