So many other videos for this have incorrect or missing info. Finally one that's correct and short. After 25 yrs, just learned I could have been using my vinyl patch glue which is always on my truck! The one adhesive I never thought about for this.

After removing the screws, re-attach those hex nuts back to the screws so they don't run away. Home Depot sells a small magnet cup to hold hardware like valve cover screws, etc. Good job, Eric!

I have a question, I have to change my spider gasket in mine and am having trouble getting the water out of that area. I used the shop vac but it kept filling up just enough to where I need to glue down the new gasket. Pump is off, pressure released. Do I need to just use the shop vac longer to clean the lines? I can't find anything about it online so far. Thanks and great instruction on this one!

i have algea going back into the pool, my valve lever does not spring back all the way up, can that cause the sand filter to not filter the algea and put it back into the pool or is it the spider gasket?

Very helpful video. 2 Quick questions...What is the purpose of the lube and can any lube be used?

Lube is used to help seal the gasket against the MPV body. It’s always great to lube all accessible O-rings as a general rule of thumb. You’ll want to use a silicone based lubricant like magic lube so it doesn’t degrade the o-rings.

Can a bad spider gasket cause DE to leak into the pool? All of our de was coming back in the pool last season, but it didn't seem to be any of the typical reasons. It never seemed to come right back into the pool. It seemed like it wasn't until we would turn off the filter that it would end up in the pool.

You're welcome. This one was glued in. It was a pretty old filter so there's no way to tell if it was original or replaced already.

Can I use silicone instead of lock tite? I did 10 years ago when I replaced it last, was I just lucky?

Silicone is fine. Using adhesive isn’t 100% mandatory but just helps. Thanks for watching.

I changed the gasket on Sunday without using any adhesive and on Monday I backwashed and rinsed and when I switched back to filter water continued out the discharged hose , is there anything else I could have done wrong , Iam going to use silicone when I replace the gasket tonight , Thanks! @@ChlorineKingPoolService

I can’t imagine the gasket was torn after one use. Make sure the rib of the gasket is facing in the right direction.

You’ll have a harder time keeping the pool balanced and you’ll have a harder time keeping the pool clear. More than likely easier to turn green or develop some algae growth quicker.

My old spider gasket is glued in. How do you get it out? Acetone and alcohol are no help.

You can take small flat head (a smidge smaller than the channel the gaskets in) and start scraping. It'll take a few minutes but you should be able to get it all out.
