I have seen some videos that use super glue to apply the spider gasket. I think that must have been the case with the one I removed. Took me forever! BTW - I ordered a replacement gasket from you today. Great videos! I wish you were closer to me (NJ).

Does the gasket have to be glued down??

How do you change the o ring on a side mount multiport valve

@@HallmarkPoolSupplies the oring were it connects the multiport to the filter
@HallmarkPoolSupplies4 ай бұрын
@@JayJacobsen-g1e If you are referring to the o-ring on the bulkhead l can help. The bulkhead is on the side of the filter, there is one on top and one on the bottom. The o-rings and the bulk heads are the same but the internal elbows are different (if needed). Sometimes you can tighten the bulk heads to stop a leak, (do not over tighten) if the bulkheads are tight then it could be a bad o-ring ,a cracked bulkhead or internal elbow. If you email your contact info l carry these parts and l can go into a little more detail on this issue, my email is on my KZbin channel.

@HallmarkPoolSupplies hi, it's definitely an oring. It sprays water when I was ready to rinse. Turned it off and bought the two orings. I loosed the nuts on the multiport but no room to remove anything. The spacer between the two brings doesn't have any leeway to move. Seems like I would have to move the sand filter full of sand. The multiport valve is all locked up with pvc piping.

Do you drain the filter or shut off external valves to prevent pool or hot-tub water from coming back up into housing once you 'pop the top'?
@HallmarkPoolSupplies2 жыл бұрын
If the filter system is level with or higher then the pool you will be fine, if your system is lower then the pool you can shut off the skimmer(s) and the drain lines. If you have a check valve (flow valve) on your return line you will be fine, if not you may have to plug the return(s).

Morning! I have the 710 side mount and it’s leaking from the bottom of the handle at the top. I’m thinking it could be an o-ring on the shaft of the diverter. Would I need to bleed the pressure or drain the filter in the filter before removing the handle and key assembly or just leave it in the filter position and shut the pump off before removing the handle and diverter or key assembly. Thanks in advance!
@HallmarkPoolSupplies7 ай бұрын
You can leave the valve in the filter position, turn off the pump and then you can make the repair. Thanks for watching.

Some sites talk about adding a lubricant to the gasket and seal. Do you recommend that?
@HallmarkPoolSupplies2 жыл бұрын
If you are replacing the whole key assembly it is already lubricated. If you lubricate the o-ring around the top or any other o-rings that’s fine. However you don’t need to lubricate the 5 spoke gasket (spider gasket).

Hi Mark, my 6-way Hayward muiti value has its waste outlet and sight glass on the left side of the filter mount tube. These are on the right. What value would mine be?
@HallmarkPoolSupplies Жыл бұрын
It sounds like you have a DE filter, the valve in the video is for a sand filter. Both valves operate the same, however the positions on the valves are rotated opposite of each other. Thanks for watching.

Appreciate your video. I have an old Hayward SP 710 side mount valve for a sand filter that is leaking from hairline housing cracks at the skimmer inlet. All the similar replacement valves I see for sale have letter "x" and "3" after the 710 number or letter "x" and additional letters after the 710 number. Mine just shows "710". Could you tell me what replacement valve number(s) will work for me?

You can repair the valve or you can replace the whole key assembly. You need to make sure if you replace the key assembly that you get the right one. Hey Mark, we are new to pool community and learning more every day. With that being said, your videos are great! The handle on our Hayward SelectaFlo Valve busted. We knew it was towards end of life when moved here, so we had purchased a back up valve assembly. When it broke, we felt it would be an easy fix to replace the entire key assembly. There doesn't appear to be any cracks and we did put lube on the o-ring. We are worried about tightening it down to tight and cracking something, but overall we have tightened it down firmly. Any suggenstions?
@HallmarkPoolSupplies11 ай бұрын
Don’t over tighten, as long as there are no leaks you should be fine. If you have to tighten a little more make sure that your filter system is off when doing so. Thanks for watching.

@@HallmarkPoolSupplies sorry, it is leaking and wasn't before the replacement.

The top assembly does not come with an o-ring. This o-ring goes around the top assembly and goes between the top of the assembly and the multiport housing. You will have to remove the o-ring from the old top assembly and put it on the new one before you put it together. If you did this, then you may want to check for damage or replace.
@CandyWalker-iz4vm11 ай бұрын
We did include the cover o-ring with lube. But there are still two leaks. We have removed and made sure the o-ring is still seated correctly (several times) and added additional lube. The leak appears to be at two of the screws. My husband has also tightened them down more....I took a video but can't figure out how to add it here.

I just replaced the mount key assembly, and it is still leaking. I didn't replace the spider gasket, but it seemed in good shape. Should I go ahead and replace the spider gasket anyway to see if that is the issue? IF I do that, and it still leaks, what might be the cause?
@HallmarkPoolSupplies Жыл бұрын
If the key assembly is new and the gasket is good, then turn off the pump and rotate the handle all the way around and let it pop back into the filter position. Sometimes the diverter does not seat back into position properly and it can cause it to leak, once in position try again this should work. If not you will have to take off the key assembly and check the gasket or replace.

@@HallmarkPoolSupplies Thanks for the reply. Actually, I discovered that it was the other gasket, the one that fits on the outermost ring of the key assembly.

Seemed simple when I ordered the parts and replacement gasket. But the removal of the old spider gasket is proving to be impossible. I don't know what type of adhesive they used but NASA needs to be using it! I've managed to remove the inner portion but the outer ring is not coming out no matter what I have tried. Any ideas?
@HallmarkPoolSupplies2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the gasket is removed easily and sometimes it can be a bear. If you use a small flat head screwdriver you can scrape the old gasket out. You definitely want to get the old gasket out so that the surface is smooth before you glue the new gasket.
