Much appreciated. Hope to be able to make more vids while I’m at work so I can show y’all more of the bigger stuff. At the house can’t really work in bigger stuff due to space

Maybe you should have added that you spin the driveshaft clockwise looking down on water pump in order to seat the pump housing on the impeller👍

What was the torque spec for the impeller housing?
@chrisbellomo92549 ай бұрын
How far forward does the shifter need to be? Before you remove the lower unit.
@outboardfinatic9 ай бұрын
Just shift it into forward it dosent matter how far you go or not cus it’ll just be forward shift w some throttle which won’t harm anything. Shifting it into forward just makes it easier to line up the driveshaft splines with the powerhead. Once you get the new pump in etc. all you wanna do is line it up and sometimes you may have to spin the prop counter clockewise to make it line up and it’ll slide right in

Which way do you turn the shaft for the impeller to seat properly? Looked like it was clockwise.

Correct clock wise

I am going to be replacing my impeller for the first time on my Optimax 175 2 stroke. I noticed you did not mention 2-4-C on the splines or putting new gaskets on the impeller housing. Did I miss something or is this not something that is necessary.
@outboardfinatic10 ай бұрын
I do grease the splines I just didn’t record it for this video. 2-4-c works fine or any other type similar. Just not too much. If you get the kit you might as well change everything. I just replaced what I had and everything else seemed to be fine for awhile. But this was also recently just done by previous owner. So a lot of the gaskets were also still fine

What direction did you turn the shaft to seat the impeller ?
@terrybryant9 ай бұрын
@@stevenmatin3374 I am pretty sure I turned it the same direction the old one came off. I am very meticulous about details like that as I maintained aircraft for over 3 decades. However the issue I am having now is I am getting guardian mode and heat warning while running 25 to 35K RPM's after 10 minutes of running.

I haver a mercury 2001 200XL saltwater outboard and was wondering if you know what type of gear oil to use ?
@outboardfinatic21 сағат бұрын
Quicksilver hi pro 90 gear lube
@outboardfinatic21 сағат бұрын
They are all pretty much the same thing just different colors. But I’d run quicksilvers which is mercurys brand

Hi, I removed my lower unit following your video, mine is the 200HP, when I removed it 4 washers fell out and im not sure where they go, sorry 5 fell out, one is the size of a 50 cent piece and the other 4 are smaller, would you happen to know where they go or how I can find out? Thanks so much!! PLEASE HELP :)
@outboardfinaticАй бұрын
2 of them go to the side mounting studs. 1 to the front mounting stud, 2 go to the two studs located under the cavitation plate and one goes to the hidden bolt located under the anode
@outboardfinaticАй бұрын
Big washer should go with the hidden bolt under the anode

@@outboardfinatic so I put the washer from the outside and then the nut over nothing goes in the inside? When I took off the nuts from around the motor, I didn’t see the washers unless they were stuck there.
@outboardfinaticАй бұрын
@@smeg8557correct they tend to get stuck up there a lot. But no nothing should be on the inside from where you removed the motor. They def were just stuck up there and when you removed it is when they popped out. They are like recessed for the washers to sit nicely

What year was this outboard?
@outboardfinatic2 ай бұрын
2002 mercury 200 efi. But it’s the same for like the carb versions and the same gearcases for like 135 and up I believe. I would have to check but pretty sure they are all the same

Put it in hot water, straightens right out.
@outboardfinaticАй бұрын
I’m assuming you’re talking about the impeller? I wouldn’t recommend that. Impellers are like 20 bucks to replace. If your gonna be going through it all might as well just replace it than tryna Jerry rig it for another season and risk harm to your engine

Don’t wanna show my face. Only reason. I do wear them when I wear and stuff cus it’s just nice to have to put over your face if your working in a nasty boat or bilge
