Always watched James videos over the years, honestly it’s not about wanting to see how to do things for me as I’ve done it all but what I’m trying to say is his videos are just so enjoyable and fun to watch, especially how he makes such a good quality video whilst trying to do a good job aswell!

Followed a lot if your videos for years James learned so much from them. Quick question I have a noisy shower pump which I replaced with a new noisy pump so it must be something else… could it be due to the feed coming from top of the cylinder?
@plumberparts
@plumberparts Жыл бұрын
It can be. Or the feed is negative and you have a positive pump. Covering that later this week.

Can you do just the hot side if your hot water pressure is rubbish or on mixer tapes will it push up the cold side, like the cold side currently over powers the hot side 🤔 .
@plumberparts
@plumberparts Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately that’s what will happen. You can try putting check valves on the cold but this doesn’t always work. Good luck!

I’m interested in your thoughts on the mounting of the pump (to reduce the noise transference) ,was it screwed down?
@Louis2282
@Louis2282 Жыл бұрын
I have fitted many pumps and because of noise and vibration i dont screw them down, i sit then on a thick cork mat or high density foam , in cyprus most pumps are outside on flat roof so i plumb them with ldpe

The instructions on these pumps (Stuart Turner) specifically state that they should not be screwed down.

Making loads of noise and cutting in when not called. I’d usually have replaced the flow switch but the bearings had gone - plus I had a new one at the studio! 😂

I thought 1 of the reasons for not soldering when connected to plastic is so the o-ring doesn't melt? OK if there is a decent length of pipe between, but your 1st elbow looked quite close?

Please can you give me some advice . I have had a Salamander shower pump installed in my bathroom to aid the pressure in my shower. The problem is that the noise from the pump is extremely loud. I would describe it as louder than with the spin cycle on a washing machine , to the extent that my neighbours have commented . This issue dictates the time of day at which I take a shower ,so as not disturb my neighbours whom I get on with ( at the moment ).Please believe me when I say that it is louder than 60 decibels. Much louder than one of your videos that you show cased. I would be very grateful for your advice.

What is the benefit of using a twin pump than using 2 single pump?
@mendyourhome
@mendyourhome 10 ай бұрын
Single only pumps 1 thing, either hot or cold. Twin pumps both. So you could make your cold mains and only need to pump your hot

Jay mate. I've got an electric immersion tank that I think Jesus's plumber mate fitted for a basket of turnips. (No gas ) It's costing us a fortune to heat all that water and we only use hot water for washing dishes by hand and washing hands. Prob 20litres a day max. ( We have electric shower). I was thinking of replacing it with an on demand instant hot water heater. (Tankless) do you think this is a good idea and if so how many KW would you reckon. ( Doesn't need to be a firehose) 3 up in a flat so water pressure ain't great anyway but sufficient for our needs.

I’m tempted to say wash your hands with cold water and boil the kettle for the dishes! I’d probably install an undersink water heater for the one sink you use for washing etc.

na they're trash. Push fits are nice if you get the inserts with rubbers on them as that makes a double seal, but propressed fittings are mechanically unsuitable with only a single barrier seal. They almost always leak within the first year. Especially if they're not properly supported. Although, the quality expensive ones where the copper is hardened (no chance of it bending) and the rubber seal is silicone (zero deterrioration), those are great but way more expensive per joint and obviously undisassemblable.
