This is one of the most helpful videos I've seen for a long time. Very good and detailed. I'm so unhappy for a few weeks now with one of my favorite quads because it has so much vibrations now that the GoPro footage is almost unusable. After having tried all those software tuning to get rid of the vibrations, I'm pretty sure it's the motors. So I already received new motors for it on friday but now I'll try to first disassemble the motors and clean and oil them to see if that was enought while I'll wait for new bearings which I will order tomorrow for the case cleaning and oiling will not be enought. Many, many thanks for this one!

Timmy - this video is great! Thanks for this! I've been in the hobby for less than a year, but years ago working in a machine shop, I can hear that my motors are "noisy" (to my ears) and you have given me the confidence to address the issue. Listen to how quiet your quad is with new bearings! That is what the machine shop part of my brain is expecting! Thank you brother!

Nice Video, very helpful. Applying the threadlocker inside the motorshaft with a toothpick helps keeping the bearing clean.

good video. how to find out what bearing size we need?
@TimmyRC
@TimmyRC 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! For most motors the manufacturer provides the bearing size, so you can just look it up. Alternatively, you could remove a bad bearing and measure it. The most common bearing sizes for miniquad motors are 8x3x4mm, 8x4x3mm, and 9x4x4mm.

What is the bering size of.( A2212 1000kv motor ) i also change the bering but i really dont know what is actually size of bering A2212 motor
@TimmyRC

Bearing sizes change from motor to motor. All 2212 motors will not necessarily have the same bearing size. You will have to look it up for your specific motor or measure the bearings in your specific motor.

Is every motor-type using the same bearings? Or is there another way to find the right ones without disassamble it and measure the bearing?

I always replace all bearings (top and bottom all motors) at once as they are so cheap and nothing is more certain than fix one and another on will fail ;)

Good question. For motors with bases wider than the stator, you can place the motor upside down in a vice, with the base of the motor resting on the jaws of the vice. Then you can pound the bearing out. Alternatively, for any motor, regardless of base size, you can bolt the motor to a spare arm, clamp the arm down, and pound out the bearing using the center hole in the bottom of the arm that usually provides clearance/access for the motor shaft screw.

why am i doing this on alot of new motors right out of the box?

Great question! Are companies using low quality bearings? My Racerstar motors are particularly noisy, although they work fine. I ordered a synthetic oil from Amazon and 1 - 2 drops on both top and bottom bearings seemed to quiet noise from my motors a significant amount.
