Is there an advantage using one method vs. the other in a specific situation? Or is it just personal preference?

Can I ask how you would change colour using the second method and half treble crochet? There will be three loops not two. Do you put the hook through all three of ‘loops’ before continuing to crochet and then pulling the old colour out?

If it were me, I'd still only pull through two of the loops otherwise it may pull the stitch up too high at the bottom.. But it would work whether you did two or three, so it's totally up to you 🌸
