this was super helpfull, but i can still see the other color when i crochet over it. any tips? my only ideas are to use a smaller hook but im using size 4 yarn and a 4.5 hook (US sizes) which is allready small.

When you do this, and you’re using black and white, how do you hide the white in the black? When I crochet the white working yarn while I’m using the black color, the white keeps popping out or it shows up because it’s a lighter color under a darker one. Is there a good way to hide this?

You can either pull your stitches tighter to hide the white, or if you don’t care how the back of your work looks, let the white yarn drape behind the black stitches until you pick it up again. Hopefully this helps!

Thank you, this worked really well! However, how do you make sure the tails of the new colors don't slip back out? I tend to crochet pretty losely and i don't feel like it's secure enough to just let it hang there :(

You could weave in the end, then tie the very end in a knot and cut close to the knot so it is secured

I was curious is there and easier way or a quicker way to drop and pickup colors? My son wants a plaid, 3 color color scarf. I have lost a lot of my function in my dominant hand so I struggle already but switching and carrying colors every 4 stitches is proving to be a very slow challenge which was already slow to begin with.

Hi I was just wondering how do you change colour like this mid row but you only have to do 1 sc (dc) because I want to make sure it looks good but so I can still do 1 full stitch 😂😅

So you’ll just insert your hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over with the new color, pull through. Then insert your hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over with the first color, then pull through! It’s kind of like you’re only doing half a stitch with the new color but it should turn out fine!

I’m trying to do a Christmas tree in the middle of a blanket so obviously it’s only a few green stitches per row. Do I need to cut the green everytime or can I switch back to the main color leaving the green working yarn for the next row. If that makes sense

I would not cut it, just leave it and pick it back up in the next row! Just make sure you aren’t leaving any visible loops of the green from when you’re switching rows.

Yes! Just switch when you are pulling through, then when you start the next stitch it will be in the new color.
