Very helpful thank you, almost thought they sent me the wrong batteries.

Yours is by far the best tutorial especially when it comes to wiring the batteries

can u use the newer LiFePO4 batteries instead of the old type sealed Pb acid batteries?

Thank you for this video. Not knowing any better, I discarded the existing connector leads when I recycled the taped up pair of batteries and have to build new ones. What gauge wire? 10? 12?

Very nice. I just reuse the old tape. You’re going to want to add a tab to pull out. You could wrap a layer of the electrical tape around back for that :)

Its funny how people are always try to fit aftermarket batteries in their UPS, while you can just with some soldering skills and ring/faston terminals and AWG14 wire you can wire up a VRLA deep cycle battery which can be discharged and charged 600 times (waaay more than a regular UPS battery for the same price) and get like 10x longer runtime for the same price. step one, depending the UPS buy a few meters AWG 14 black and red wire, some crimp terminals 6.3mm and 3mm ring terminals. step two, make a cable using shrink pliers and connect the crimp terminals (male i presume) and ring terminals for battery connection, apply solder to fill the terminals to create full contact. step three, disconnect all load from the UPS, create a hole or leave the battery cover open to connect the male terminals to the UPS, get a VRLA deep cycle battery that is used in wheelchairs, electrical bikes... they are deep cycle and mostly have screw type terminals, connect the ring terminals to the battery... Also important, you have 2 types of UPS: non-transformer and transformer the difference is: non-transformer uses transistor switching to transform 12v DC into 120v AC, more efficient, longer runtime, no heat, doesn't overcharge the battery transformer based UPS creates massive heat when idle, not efficient, creates even more heat when in backup mode, overcharges the battery constantly when idle. I prefer screw type terminals, because they are safer and less prone to accidental contact error, i use masking tape to cover up the naked screw for extra safety. VRLA batteries can also be turned upside down or on the side just like regular UPS batteries.

Amazing tip and insight. I may look at doing this once mine dies.

great step by step for the battery replacement..... Thanks!

Are you sure those batteries can be used upside down?
@QuickandDirty3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's how the factory ones are. Been running with no issue.

Of course, Google a bit for SLA (Sealed Lead Acid), AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat).

Wrong terminals. UPS use more current and that's why they come with F2 terminals. Same price for the batteries. Those adapters work, but the smaller connectors will overheat.

So far so good, wish me luck!

So which is the correct battery with the correct terminals?
