Some people poor some of the new oil into the filter to reduce the time taken to restore oil pressure on first startup. Good stuff Fraser 🔧👍🏻

+1 for this, I forgot to do it for the first time ever yesterday and couldn't for the life of me figure out why the oil light was on! i just cracked the filter a little then started her up and quickly re-tightened the filter again job done!

Good old copper grease. It’s interesting to see an oil filter on a fully faired bike in quite good nick when it comes off. Mine was so rusty it leaked before I got to the job. That’s what you get with a naked lady sadly. Never used that engine flush before but then I’m about to strip my engine down before I refill it. Although I guess it’s the galleries that benefit. Good job done well mate,

never seen a spring washer on my sump plug usualy a copper gasket/crush washer that needs replacing with an oil change but maybe the kawasaki is different. never used a flushing agent will have to try it nice vid

Yeah they are all different. Solid washer on my CB500 doesn’t need replacing at all. Just check for leaks after a run.

Thank you, you are right! most of the time it is a crush washer or copper gasket. I think the spring washer is more of a novelty mod. I have used spring washers on previous models, to keep tension on the plug, but doesn't make any difference. All the best, and thanks for your comment!

I've watched a few vids on bike engine flushing, but no-one ever operates the clutch or gears with the rear wheel off the ground. Surely this should be done to make sure the gears and clutch are also cleaned.
@motorbikeway
@motorbikeway 5 жыл бұрын
It does make sense to engage the clutch and gears, with the wheel off the ground. I think it is more of a safety issue. I used to put my bike in first gear, with rear wheel raised, just to lube the chain. I was later told by a bike safety expert it is an "unsafe practice". Thanks for the comment!

Wouldnt you need to remove oil before inserting the engine flush? Forté for example is like 800ml of liquid to flush... that's quite a lot if it's already on it's max.
@motorbikeway
@motorbikeway 4 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the engine flush you are using. To be honest the best way would have been to release the same amount of oil, as the engine flush being inserted. Great comment though!

@@motorbikeway Thanks for the response, going for a flush myself too as it's a very old bike that seems to have had a rough time. It's topped up on oil, so that's why i was wondering haha. :) Great vid tho!

Hello mate. How often we need to change oil and filters?
@motorbikeway
@motorbikeway 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, for this model we should change the oil every 5000 miles or every 2 years (whichever comes first), and the oil filter every 2nd oil change. I personally change the filter each time I change the oil. All the best!

One mistake. Please use NEW OIL to lubricate the new filter with and not old dirty oil, as the containments might burn and your filter will get stuckt to the engine. I tried that two times before now. Fresh oil everytime, and a rag to clean the old oil of where the filter will seal does not hurt either.

Oil plug removal and replacement can destroy your engine block if incorrect torque is applied. Often the engine block is aluminium and the plug is steel. Only one winner.

Engine flush is evil tuff and you never get all of it out which means your new oil is instantly thinned - if you insist on using it check you can get your sump plug loose before you put it in !
@motorbikeway
@motorbikeway 6 жыл бұрын
Great comment! Also worth mentioning not to put it in an old engine, as it can sometimes melt away the sludge that has formed part of the seals. I'm not suggesting engine flush is damaging the seal, but the engine flush may reveal some bad seals and create leaks. Thanks, and all the best!
