I would call this bad ass improvisation. If you're working in the same environment with limited tools this kind of little trick will save your Engineering asses. As ex engineering grad and after 40 years working in automotive repair ranging from BMW, Honda and Rolls Royce & Bentley sometimes you need this kind of improvisation. Nothing is perfect!

At least this guy willing to show how you can do it. Hell I don't see any of you Engineers posting videos. Great job bro. I do all my mechanic work myself. Shops overcharge and sometimes don't even do as good as job as you

how many of the naysayers have actually pressed their own crank? Have done quite a few myself. His methods are a little crude compared to what we're used to but the general idea is the same. I use a dial indicator though. As far as realigning, it's basically the same as the way he's doing it. Hammer and a soft punch, or just a soft hammer. Hurts nothing if done right. When I first got into this business about 30 years ago, this was pretty much the way it was done. Hammers and punches, and a stump. Never once had a crank issue. We're talking high RPM motorcross stuff at the time, all 2 stroke. Also have done a few 250 and 450 4 stroke cranks and while the dial indicator helps, it's not a deal breaker if you don't have one and one can accurately true them without if done properly. Before using a dial, I used a sharpie with a bendable mount of sorts. When the sharpie made a mark all the way around, it was close enough. Never a vibration, nary an issue of any sorts.

The first thing I was thinking when he was began assembling it was, How is he going to align it? I found out. Really cool. As an experienced machinist and mechanic, I would have never even thought of this method. I am sure that he makes it work well though. This shows that it can be done without proper tools and fixtures. Cool.

Obviously some of those hammer hits are not the best for the final product. But honestly this was the most "practical" and fast approach I've ever seen. I've done this job a couple of times, but would take many hours of video footage. Not just a few minutes. LOL Thumbs up. ;-)

Enjoyed this video and the confidence and speed with which he did the job. Looks like he's done lots of them. Remember this crank is for some yoeman CG125 or Chinese clone in the third world, not an Isle of Man racer. Whatever finally kills this bike, I am confident that this crank will be working fine until the end.

you have all the reason is for a chinese cg clone of honda in my country abound are engines that do not last more than three years when they leave new factory, due to the misuse that they give him, and the way he performs the work is the same as applies in any specialized workshop, only he is afraid to show how he performs the work after repaired the engine could last two or three more years and then they will repair it again and so on. since here a Chinese bike cg 150 new costs 800 dollars that is too much money here

It has debastado and abunadan motorcycles cg io Chinese clones of honda, and people need this type of work at a good price ..

You can use puller plate out the bearing of crank shaft and no technical works. The crank shaft sensitive part of engine don't use hammer on crank shaft using the press that better hammer.
