YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE GLOVE BOX FOR THIS. Just remove the kick panel, the fuze panel, remove the 2 12mm bolts and unmount the metal frame to give you clearance and access to the cabin air filter door remove the 2 phillips screws and pull out the air filter. took me 20 minutes. i have a 2006 mazda 3.

Absolutely 100% correct. Just did the job on a 2007 3s. No need to take down the glove box and waste your time. Plenty of space to get the work done once the bracket is off. Thanks to the op for the video perhaps he didnt know. The procedure elio mentioned is straight out of the factory manual on how to do it.

Hey man, thanks a lot for the video. Here in ol'Europe (Spain) Mazda service asked for 200€ (around 250$) for replacing the cabin air filter. They said 130€ for the job and 70€...! for the parts. Crazy. They also said it would take two hours and I made it in 50 min, outside my house, for the first time ever and without pro qualification (with your know-how, thanks again). The lesson is obvious: Avoid the official Mazda service as much as possible. Thanks again and...just keep it real! ;-)

Definitely not Honda or Hyundai simple, but this video got me started in the right direction. Removing the glove box only takes a couple of minutes and give you easy access to the fuse panel and that metal bracket on the firewall. As others have mentioned it's a lot of BS to change the cabin air filter.. not sure what the engineering team was thinking when they designed this but I'm glad it's only in the first generation 3's!! Thanks ghostlyrich.

Just finished, took me a little over an hour, the hardest part was putting everything back together. Word of advice, be careful with the levers on the fuses, I broke one with little force trying to close it when I was putting it back together. Make sure you push the fuse in good before trying to close the lever. Thanks again for the good video tutorial, I don't think I'm changing the filter in this again tho

Just finished the job and it took me about 30 minutes from start to finish. YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE OUT THE GLOVE BOX. Just take off the side kick panel (the one closest to the radio) with the one plastic rivet thing, take off the fuse cover, disconnect some of the clips on the fuse panel so it isn't so stiff (just enough to access the two nuts in the next step), undo the metal bracket with the two 12mm nuts, and undo the four phillips screws on the cabin filter cover. Thats pretty much all you need to access the filter. Thanks for the video though!

This was a total bear of a job! So thankful for this video. The Purolator filter I got for replacement ($28) came with a printed walk-through on a single sheet with some pics. But nothing so helpful at this video. Found out why a dealer charges $100+ for the labor. Bring a crevice tool and your vacuum to clean out all the leaves and pollen if you live in North Florida like me. On mine, 2006 Hatchback GT model, the filter cover has an extra attachment screwed on it. No need to detach it. Your thumb is on it at 5:51 in the video. Maybe that's something to do with the Automatic climate feature?

Here is my tip after changing mine out for the first time. Inflate a balloon so it is about 3-4 inches in diameter. Place the top filter in place and wedge the balloon behind the filter so that it holds it in place. You can then slide the bottom filter in place without trying to hold the top filter in place. Well worth the trip to the dollar store.

It was just the filter with the foam on top, I didn't really feel like going out to get another set and ended up just putting back everything together. I am blessed with the infamous diffusers in my '05 anyways so I thought why not just leave it, it's been that way for so many years! I've been noticing lately though my air system has been randomly making an odd noise, having decreased air flow and is not cold at all but after a while will go back to normal.

It's not necessary to remove the glove compartment but it does make it a bit tighter to remove the 4 screws from the air filter cover. When installing the filters put the top filter into the front slot, move it up and hold it in place with your right hand in behind while putting the lower one in. The slot on the top of the lower filter has an angle on it to easily grab the bottom alignment strip.

Replacement is as video describes. (Mine is a 2004 Mazda 3 5 door) Don't forget remove clamp on the negative battery post. Also, mine did not have an old filter to replace. (I'm the only owner.) Top filter is foam up. Note there is a slot for drivers side of top filter. Must put in top filter first. Gotta hit that verticle slot. Bottom filter does not have a slot to hit. Only the slot along the bottom edge of top filter. Once in you are good. Put the door on and screw it shut.

@ghostlyrich10 жыл бұрын
there are 2 things you can try. one is pop out the window controls on the drivers side unplugging them and plugging them back in. Or pull the negative on the battery and put it back on. Last thing to try is going back to fuse box and re seating the big plugs one of them may not be sitting in all the way or properly
@scottpeter198710 жыл бұрын
ghostlyrich I had the problem solved. As the manual says, after unplugging the battery, i have to reset all the electric windows manually. After doing it with every door, the controls on the driver's door just worked fine. There was an other problem I discovered, after taking out the ignition key, the odometer stayed on. The manual says that it will turn of after taking out the key and close the driver's door. Actually it works, but before it turned on directly not 10 minutes after. Anyway everything now just work fine, thanks for the video assist :)
@ketosh809 жыл бұрын
scottpeter1987 there is an easier way. what you need to do is use both switches at the same time, just go down with both passenger and drivers control and then go up and hold a few seconds. Try again if it won't works. It sorted the thing in my 06 mazda 3.

Bro... I changed my filter like 4xs's already. I didnt do 95% of what you did. Just drop and unplug couple plugsnon the lower fuse cluster, remove kick panel, pull cabin air filters out. Reconnect neg battery terminal so no error codes. Thats it.
