To clarify, that's the extended runtime blade. You can mulch with it and it will give you longer use of the battery, but the actual mulching blade is what should be used for mulching. However, the mulching blade will use more battery. I personally would prefer to have more battery. Nice review.

Nice to see you had difficulty getting the nut off. I just tried to change to high lift blade on brand new mower....no luck. I will find a pipe to put over socket wrench for more leverage. To me, the high lift blade should be the default blade on this. The standard single mulch blade struggles with decent leaf and grass bagging. thanks!

This was extremely helpful; I had trouble with the white "fan" turning with the center bolt, but there is a second, smaller hole in it where placing a thin screwdriver or the like in it allows the bold to turn.

That's what I'm trying to figure out now. The white "fan" keeps turning, and the smaller holes have nothing to catch on the inside of the mower. The factory must love to tighten lose nuts down. I couldn't get them off, but my neighbor is a mechanic and brought over his power tools to get it off. Even he was surprised they were that tight.

Folks, use a longer breaker bar on that center nut. It's on there very tight from the factory. If you don't have a longer breaker bar, get a steel pipe and fit over your ratchet, or short breaker bar. The right tool makes it so much easier. Also, Harbor Freight has cheap torque wrenches that a pretty accurate. Using one will insure your blade is properly tightened to spec. And while you're under there, please clean the air passages. The guy in the video didn't do this, and his motor will run hotter. These air passages are in the top center of the mower (looking from under it). Clumps of grass will plug them up, so gouge the clumps out.
@llynch9665
@llynch9665 Жыл бұрын
So many people don't know to just slip a long pipe over the ratchet handle and that gives the increased leverage to take care of almost all tight bolts. Dad taught me that back in the day when he showed me how to change a tire.

Hi. I have the exact same problem on my NEW LM2135SP. . It came with the jagged mulching blade installed and I need to exchange it for the sharp blade, as half of the grass is ending up in clumps on the grass instead of in the bag. I have not been able to turn the nuts - even with WD40 and a neighbor's assistance with a power wrench. I have a mechanic friend with an impact wrench setup and maybe he can get them off. The fact that you were ultimately successful gives me hope. I've read a few posts online regarding this issue with the Egos.

@reallyMello
@reallyMello 2 жыл бұрын
The higher you mow the better it is for the lawn and naturally crowds out weeds per UF IFAS so I try and trend toward higher height. Overlapping your passes a little and cutting when the grass is dry should help with weird lines. I’ve been pretty happy with the high efficiency mulch blade.
@MrKrokodilDundee
@MrKrokodilDundee 2 жыл бұрын
I'd say use setting number 4 for height. Here in Southwest Florida, we mow every week in the summer. If you go with height setting 3, it'll burn and turn yellow from the sun I think. Anyway, I suppose it depends on your lawn and how much water you get from rain fall and sprinklers.

How long did it take you before you had to replace the blades. Something tells me the blades on this mower would need to be replaced way quicker compared to a gas one. Do you agree? Also instead of replacing the blades, you could have sharpened it correct? Very interested in the LM2156. How often I need to change the blades is the only hick up preventing me from switching from gas to battery powered. I guess the last question is does battery operated va gas impacts the life of the blades?
@reallyMello
@reallyMello 2 жыл бұрын
I disagree that they’d need to be replaced any faster than a gas one. I waited about a year and a half before changing mine. I could have sharpened but I didn’t think it was worth it with the gouges I had in the old one from hitting rocks. Gas vs battery makes no difference in blade life.

Thanks for your video bro. You helped me out. I might be able to help you too. I found this, you all might want to read. I really dont think it's good to have them bolts on so tight. I'm not for sure but you might damage the mower with them bolts on so tight. I know for sure it's not good to have car tire lugnuts on super tight. If you don't have a torque wrench. Just guess on the foot pounds. But look it up and see approximately how tight they should be so you have an idea... and just guess as your tightening them bolts down by the pressure your putting on the wrench. Check this link out. I'll post what I found. Takecare and God Bless everyone . Here's what the mower manual says from the ego site: “Use a torque wrench with 9/16” (14mm) socket to tighten shaft bolt in CLOCKWISE direction to 36-43 ft-lb (50-60 N.m.) and alternate to 11/16” (17mm) socket to tighten “Blade Set” nuts in CLOCKWISE direction to 22 ft-lb (30 N.m.).”Jan 15

That’s not how you use an impact. You have to hold the trigger for more than 0.7 seconds. A breaker bar is the better tool here anyway.

I thought you were trying to steal one of my moves for a moment there and instead of removing the bolt you damn near kill yourself trying to loosen it only to realize all you have done is tighten the ever living hell out of it because it is reverse threaded for whatever god-forsaken reason!

I don't like the fact they painted over most of the cutting surface on these. :/

It doesn’t really make a difference and wears off the cutting edge relatively quickly if you are concerned
