Love this vacuum🌼 This vacuum has more than sufficient suction power to clean my hardwood and tile flooring. As this was not a like for like replacement for me, I would highly recommend getting a section of flexible hose made installation extremely easy.

I struggled to get ahold of the pull tag on the existing filter. Then I had to put my chest up against the unit in order to gain some leverage to pull the bag off. Not only does my old beam have the retaining ring channel but has a little plastic clip that you need to seat the bag ring in/on before slightly pulling the bag down on the ring. Oh...and don't check if the bag is properly seated by powering up the unit. If the dirt can is not put back in place, the bag will simply blow out of the canister (as without it, you are not drawing a vacuum).

I would caution against the average joe/jane doing this unless you are particularly competent. You have to make sure that the filter is seated back in properly and it is tricky to do when the canister is on the wall (easier if you take it off and do it with the canister upside down on the ground). The filter has a metal band inside of it and it is designed to 'snap' in place to a ridge inside the canister. If you don't do it right the dirt will bypass the filter and get into the motor and destroy it.

Yeah it's tough to get it to snap, doesn't really snap though. Run finger on inside of band to flatten out is best between band and canister - as to level it out

hi there, my vacuum is BEAM 353. The dust bag has two layers sharing the same hoop, one layer of cotton fiber and one layer of nylon. Inside the very bottom of the nylon layer, there is a weight attached. It should be sucked up when the vacuum cleaner is in operation and drop down when it stops. Would you let me know how to install this dust bag correctly? Should the nylon layer face the vacuum or the cotton fiber layer? Thanks a lot!

I have tried and tried to put the bag back in ( I shouldn’t have taken it off) but it keeps falling down. What am i doing wrong? I noticed you were turning and turning it?

Carl, the video should be explanatory. We are distributors in Ireland for Beam Central Vacuum Systems. We can try to help our local customers by phone but your local company who supplied your system should be able to help you.  Remove the plug from the power socket;  Remove the dirt receptacle from the power unit and clean the filter;  Run your hand around the inside rim of the power unit until you find the cloth ring pull in the centre of the power unit and pull downwards; At the same time, the filter will fall from it’s recess in the power unit body;  When fitting a new filter, the joint in the metal ring in the filter is fitted on top of the foam insert in the unit body filter recess, usually to the back of the body of the power unit;  Grasp the ring in one hand.  Place the metal rim of the filter back into location, ensuring clothside of filter is facing motor, and nylon shiny side is facing outwards.  Push the ring of the filter into the recess around the power unit. The last piece of the ring will need to be forced into place, by tapping in with a hammer. Test the filter is fitted correctly by catching the filter cloth and pulling downwards - it should not move.  Put the dirt receptacle back on and switch the power back on.

It's not possible to put a camera inside the unit to show this. However in the video you can see the filter rim is squeezed in as it is going inside the unit to allow it to fit into the groove of the unit. If you still have problems, please contact your local supplier (we are based in Ireland).

I had to laugh, he's working with a clean, spotless filter. At least do this with a working unit that has been used. That filter and bucket are obviously untouched. The real-world vacuum is much dirtier to deal with and at least people would get a proper demonstration of what's going to really happen. This is why I recommend a disposable bag system. They are so much more efficient and cleaner. Cost is small and maintenance is a breeze.

Absolutely right about the replaceable bag systems. As of 2023, our Broan is 38 years old, and on its second motor. The bags, still available from Filtrete, cost about $20 CDN for box of 3. We need one a year for our 1200 square foot house. Completely dirt-free bag changes. My friend has the Eureka (aka Beam) bag-filter unit. Nuts that you have to have a vacuum standing by to clean this vacuum!

Obviously, I'm in the business and have seen how compromised the major manufacturers have become. Chinese flo-thru single fan motors that are pressed and unservicable, bells and whistle electronics that are high failure component. Shame on us.

Marilyn I ended up sneaking my finger under the ring and it popped out easily. I just wasn’t familiar with how it came out. The new one went in easily and doesn’t come out easily. Maybe you bought the wrong replacement or an aftermarket poorly made filter?

The receptacle has an on/off switch. He trips it before starting. The real issue with this video is that all the 'magic' is done inside the canister and hidden from our view.
