I know this video was posted a year ago but as a newly single mom, I watched to change the oil in my van (e350 passenger) and successfully changed it in less than 30 minutes (including filter). I'm really not sure why my ex pissed and moaned over changing the oil because it was quick and easy. Thank you so much.

My 1999 Econoline still has about a dozen grease fittings on steering and suspension components, and greasing those is a bit of a messy and time-consuming chore. It takes me at least as long to grease the chassis as it does to change the oil. Not sure what year your van is; if newer, it might not have any grease points.

You forgot to wet the new oil filter gasket before putting it on. Very important step. Props for doing this in a garage parking lot though.

Didn't you see him add oil to the new filter? It was on the gasket.

@@BBare. He poured new oil into the new oil filter but he did not wet the new oil filter gasket all around. He may have done it off camera but it is very important step that was clearly omitted in this video. The oil will keep the new gasket from overheating and getting glued to the engine and making i hard to remove on the next oil change. This is Car Maintenance 101. Just pointing that out to anyone who might now know.

Why did you use a torque wrench to remove oil pan nut?

Better leverage and the nut is torqued between 28-32lbs

What is that thing that attaches to the oil filter? One of the hose has a very small leak where the oil filter is.

Doing research these vans run better on X-W30 and X-W40 weight oil. 5W20 is way to thin unless you live in Canada or Alaska I have 3 of these vans ALL have the 5.4 and I run 10W-30 in winter and 10W-40 in summer !!!!
