What a PITA this is. No dipstick. I have a Jeep GC with 173k miles. Like to flush some fluid with new. Pentosin makes fluid for this also.

I am going to try that fluid next time and see if I can tell any difference. Thanks for the feedback.

Lmfao just got quoted for this job from the dodge dealership for $1,000, paid $200 for the diagnostic alone. I’m boutta crack a cold one this Saturday and do it myself, they’re out of their fking mind

Absolutely . It is not that difficult. You just have to pump it in there until you get a good steady trickle flowing and you know its full. Hope all goes smoothly and thank you for the feedback.

May try to figure out a fitting for the 8mm drain plug. So you can pump the fluid in without dripping out. Plastic push to connect?

That would have been nice to start of with for sure. Thank you for the feedback.

😅 just learned that dorman makes and also that ATP makes a casket and pan for that that you can replace just the filter because the filters held in with Allen screws

I wish I could pour fluid from the top. One of my transmission cooler lines popped out while I was driving and leaked out my transmission fluid.
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
Same thing happened on this car of mine and ruined the previous transmission. I originally thought someone had incorrectly removed the lines from the tran cooler. But I am starting to wonder if there is not some kind of defect. Anyways you will want to replace the oil cooler lines asap , I will leave a link here. Thank you for the feedback , much appreciated. ebay.us/4hXJ2H

To believe Dodge tells you the transmission isn’t serviceable and it lasts the life of the vehicle, they are lying to people about that. I just got a shop to schedule the pan/filter change and fluid, gonna cost $625. I won’t be buying another dodge and the only reason why is the shitty treatment i received from the dealership…
@s33therfan7 ай бұрын
That is pricey , I had no idea what they were charging . I appreciate you taking the time to share and the feedback.

I have the same year. A 2014 Dodge Charger SXT Plus with the 8 speed transmission. Mine is AWD. I am trying to figure out if yours is. The reason why is a mechanic told me if I plan to change the transmission fluid myself, I need to prop up a component with a jack that will, supposedly, fall when I open up the pan to drain it. Any idea on what I’m talking about, and is yours rear wheel drive?
@dustynhirth113110 ай бұрын
On the AWD version, there is a component which I believe is for the drive train that obstructs access to the pan. I believe the mechanic I referenced was referring to something to do with that.
@s33therfan10 ай бұрын
Best thing to do is crawl under there and see if all the pan bolts are accessible. If so then you don't need to remove the transmission support. I am assuming they are accessible the same as the rwd because the front shaft is off to the side. When I say accessible I mean you can get to them by swivel or smaller extension. Hope this helps.

My girlfriend ended up getting a 2023 Dodge Charger R/T 5.7L last November and currently under 17,000 miles. When do you recommend changing the transmission fluid ?
@s33therfan4 ай бұрын
I would do a drain fill at 30k and continue to do them every 30k from there. The mopar fluid is the best 8 speed fluid. This is best deal , just purchased some. amzn.to/4fLXPLF

I just followed ur instructions.was only able to get around under 5 quartz in by the time I started pouring out I rechecked after driving and going through gears and temps stayed around 140 degrees on my Hondas the trans fluid were much easier .. u think I got enough fluid in ? Around 5 quartz came out of old fluid ? So it’s about right just wondering what u thought ?

lol nvm I see u said about 5 quarts thanks for the help sir my charger 3.6 2014 jus that around 86k and wanted to do the fluid change

2019 dodge charger 8 speed 3.6l will valvoline full syn atf+4 work
@s33therfan17 күн бұрын
I would use the 8 or 9 speed transmission fluid. I know a lot of the aftermarket are about as expensive as the oem . I used the maxlife on this and it worked fine . I bought some 8 9 speed oem off of ebay last time I changed fluid in another 8 speed because it was a 12 pack for I want to say 120 or so. Thanks for the feedback.
@lesterw32914 күн бұрын
So the one I brought isn’t 8-9 speed I look it up and that what it pulled up the valve like full syn atf+4 dodge is 35 a quart

How you change the filter
@s33therfan16 күн бұрын
The filter is built in to the pan itself. Thank you for watching.

Is this same as dodge charger srt 6.4 2015?

If it has the 8 speed or looks like this transmission pan , then it will be the same. Thanks for the question.

Did you change the gasket? If not, have you had any issues?
@s33therfan6 ай бұрын
The pan has the filter integrated and a new gasket . No issues at all. Thanks for watching.
@micahwillis96484 ай бұрын
Do you have to get a new pan or can you reuse the old one?
@s33therfan4 ай бұрын
You will need to get a new one. Not only does it come with a new gasket but it has a built in filter. Thanks for the question.
@oldelectronics702 ай бұрын
I have watched some videos in this very same platform from mechanics who think there is really not need to replace the filter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2bdcq2Gj7RlpZY&pp=ygUhdHJhbnNtaXNzaW9uIGZsdWlkICBmaWx0ZXIgY2hhbmdl However I would not go beyond 120 without replacing the pan since it also comes with the filter attached to it. If you are planing to remove and reuse the old one, make sure you get a new gasket and clean the magnets areas where the metal fillings accumulate; one of the is around the drain plug itself.
@UnderConstruction1338 ай бұрын
So it takes 6quarts? Not 9.5?

If you perform a drain fill , it will be closer to 5 quarts. Thanks for the feedback.

@@s33therfan just did mine Saturday, on my 2020 dodge charger, worse thing is I had to change my pan. It had a small crack and thanks to your video I was able to swap it out and service my transmission at the same time!

I’m planning to service the transmission on my 2015 Chrysler 300 v6. How many quartz did you end up using after all set and done. I noticed you had two 5 quart jugs.
@s33therfan9 ай бұрын
Most of the time you should get a little over 5 quarts on a drain fill. I had swapped out the transmission and had to add more than usual. Thank you for the question.
@heythere69838 ай бұрын
I wanted to do mine at 130k but was told not to, at 150k I still wonder.
@s33therfan8 ай бұрын
I would change it regardless of what anyone else says. The fluid will get dirty over time and clean fluid gives the transmission a better chance. They just don't make these transmissions like they used to. I appreciate the feedback.

Very good video. I really like the fact you go straight to the point. There is just a minor thing, I think you are missing from the procedure to check the correct fluid level. According to kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZDJaJuZn5aAoZI you need to shift thru Reverse and Drive for 5 seconds on each position (with the foot on the brake pedal) and then while in Drive, now with the foot off the brake (you need the rear suspended of jack stands) then rev the engine softly till it switches to 2nd gear. However I do not think you will be too off the way you show it on your video.
