I bought a new (to me) car and my old thule roof rack system didn't fit. So instead of having to buy an entirely new system, I just changed out the foot kit and now it fits perfectly again!

so someone gave me a thule roof rack kit and it has these metal clamps on the side, i couldnt figure out for the life of me how to attach to my side bars....helpful video, obviously its only meant for naked roof.

I had the Evo Clamp 710501, which is little different than this video. It was a struggle, but I finally removed the metal clamps from the feet and recorded a short video here. The technique is a little different and not 100% intuitive: kzbin.infoXo_PKQY8zY8?si=-jr035JokwuPW-jY

Thank you for posting this! I had yet to install the same model as you on my car, but part of the allure was the ability to swap to a new car when necessary, so it’s one of the first things I was checking and I could NOT get the foot out lol this helped. Thanks again!

I’m having trouble getting the end caps off my Thule Wingbar Evo but looks like a different bar and the end caps seem easier to remove on yours. On another note ….. is that a Nissan Skyline sitting in your garage next to the car you’re working on? 😮

Yes it is. That's my '92 skyline gtr. I've got a few videos of it on my channel if you're interested 👍

I attacted the clamps wrong. How do I take them off?

I came here to see how to adjust the feet to a new position on the bar. Too bad you cannot see how it is done. I see that you are snaping something but your hands are in the way so you cannot see what part is being snapped into place.

There is a small lever that applies pressure to hold the feet in place on the bar. Releasing the lever allows you to slide it to wherever you need it to be

Doesn't the clamps scratch the painting?

There is a rubber coating

May I ask you what previous yr model cars was the Thule attach to & the newer veh. I have older 400XT that they claim won't be compatible on the newer foot pads on my 2015 Nissan Versa. I'm trying to find other older makes pads/swap that might fit my versa.

Has anyone here resolved leaks from Thule rack on bare roof? I'm finding zero information on how to do this anywhere. Thanks
@MichaelChartierАй бұрын
Probably more of a door seal issue, not caused by the rack.

How do you know the torque is right?
@PlatoonGarage2 жыл бұрын
I've always tightened it down and then gave the bars a shake, if no movement then good to go. Been doing it that way for over a decade without issue. I have no idea if that's the right procedure, it's just how I've done it

@@PlatoonGarage ah ok! I did some research, and found out that wrench with the green head is actually a torque wrench, not that accurate though....when you turn it and when the line is on the mark while turning, it's about 3nm, and that is supposed to be the right tightness. Thanks man

Its 3Nm

what is that part number called 4 legs mounts?
@PlatoonGarage2 жыл бұрын
Thule website has each mount kit listed. Look for the type of vehicle you have and it will give you the kit number to buy

Wrong key??

Actually I have the same problem using the supplied key. Also, exactly what are those feet called as far as the Thule model name? I ordered a fit kit for the Wing Evo and the holes are too small in the clamps. My clamps have oval holes likes yours does

Pronounced "th" like "the"

It's from Sweden. There's no th-sound. The Thulin family pronounces their name too-lee-n
@themanganiellos58003 жыл бұрын
is "too-lee". In 1942, was founded by the Thulin family, when Erik Thulin, a true lover of the outdoors, put the name on a Pike Trap that he designed and began selling to the fisherman of Scandinavia
