Wait if its just a rod that hooks onto the ball join thats on the knuckle why would anyone change that rod? Wouldn't we just change the ball joint on the knuckle side and leave the tie rod end as it is?

That’s what I think too. I ordered and am replacing the lower ball joint soon cause the ball joint was shot

On my 2001 IS 300 the tie rod ends has a ball joint attached. And not sure why the ones I'm replacing come in from the bottom. No left or right markings. The new ones are marked left and right and would have to be connected from the top with nut on the bottom. I think someone put these old ones on wrong is my guess. Just washed a video from A 1 auto. That shows the tie rod same as the old. Coming in from the bottom with a ball joint. Just wondering why my replacements are marked wrong. Maybe universal. They look the exactly same. As long as I put the curve in the same direction. Should be good.
