HOW TO CHANGE TIPM (ON 2013 DODGE RAM 3500)

I needed to change my TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) on my welding rig so I figured I would take y'all along.

Thks for the video. For all others, I would recommend first removing the old one and using an electrical contact cleaner suitable for electronics on both the wiring harnesses and the male connectors. Then use ignition spray on the leads into the connectors to remove any remaining moisture in them. Then add a bit of dialectric grease to each connector. It's about $10 in supplies, and if there are still issues, sure go ahead and replace it.....oh and don't be afraid to pressure wash the engine. It'll help keep the dust and dirt from getting into these types of parts. Also, spraying the engine bay with wax once cleaned at the wand wash helps protect the wiring and connections as much as your paint.

My lowbeam lights work sometimes. I am thinking I have a connection issue and cleaning and sealing the module is the first step. Has anyone found the one fuse that controls the headlights? My foglights and highbeams work fine. Thanks for the video

What was the problem before you replace the fuse box?

I had the dealer replace my tipm and repair the harness under it. It had an airbag light on (that was not on before the repair). Took it back to them 3 times to fix that airbag light. I Googled it and pushed the fuse in and the light went out.

One tip I'll give you....anytime you unplug something go ahead and squirt some dielectric grease on there to help with corrosion and also to keep the crud out of whatever connection you might be working on. It'll save ya next time you're into whatever it is you're working on :-). Keep up the good work!

I have my ac and heat fans that will blow then they will go out mid drive, Idk if it is a tipm issue or what, I changed the fuse for the blower motor so idk if I will need a tipm or a new blower moder? Any suggestions?

You forgot to disconnect the battery first. Always disconnect the battery and it wouldn’t matter post bolts that you took off the top of the fuse box touched anything. And you’re supposed to touch the terminals together if you’re trying to start it

My truck just died goin down the row one day. Figured out it had somethin to do with my fuel pump fuse.

@@arosswelding Thanks for that info. My son's truck went into limp mode. Later wouldn't start at all. The dealer found a loose wire/connection at C120 (not sure what that connector is for, or where it's located). Fixed now.

Steve Welland do a reset. Put the key in the on position for 12 seconds and then turn it off and take off the key. Don’t actually turn on the car when you have it in the on position and that’s a reset and should read the new tipm

I have a Laramie Hemi 2009, i change it and the check engine start to blink and shake the motor. I turn it off an on again. Fix it but 20sec later starter again to shake

What was the issue? I have a 2013 ram 3500 diesel 6.7. I'm told my tipm module needs to be cleaned due to corrosion. The problem I'm having is that the truck is putting itself in 4wd without me doing it. Message on cluster says 4wd not available and when I put my truck in park. And pass through reverse I hear a loud noise.? Thanks!!!
