2009 Dodge Ram TIPM

2009 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L TIPM Removal and Installation
After multiple unrelated faults on my 1500, I found only a couple articles online isolating the Total Integrated Power Module had given up the mystical blue smoke.
I show you how to remove and replace the TIPM in addition to some of the issues associated with it going out, and even some ways to break some parts in the process.
I really hope this helps someone out, this would have been a great source of info the first 4 times I removed it.

I'm having a fuel pump issue, and I can't seem to find a relay bypass for this specific TIPM. The videos I can find all have a different layout than the one I have. 09 ram 1500 4.7 trx4

When I pull my TIPM I NOTICED THEY HAD A BLOCK WITH THREE WIRES AND AN OFFSET CONNECTOR. THEY DID NOT GO TO ANYTHING OR DID IT GO TO MY POWER POST FROM THE BATTERY? OR is it an option not used on my vehicle I would like to attach a picture of this if I may. 5:45

Thanks for sharing. Mines 09 too but she started wipers on her own. Lights came on and cluster turned on but no revs. She still starts

so my 2010 is the same ! has anyone try if fuel problems stalling try putting in a wire at fuel fuse to sunroof for 12 volts to fix it ? seems working but stalls really bad at stop signs or is my tipm going ? so sucks right ! stealers sad 1500.00 to replace mine no they dont know crap on these tipm ! been seeing all about the tipm thanks for doing this now I know ok do it my self right ! scott

Great video. I would have broken plugs. Just one comment on the last plug that the red tab will actually be in the down position so you raise it thus pulling up the red tab that holds on and then simply squeeze the tab to release. Thanks

Thanks for the detail on the TIPM - very helpful. Curious, on the HVAC. Does your blower have a delay on start? Meaning, you can't fully control the AC blower airflow speed until after a few minutes of the truck being on? I have heard all 2009's have this issue.

Glad the video helped, main reason I started them. Without jumping in the truck and trying it I do believe there is a delay in the blower starting. I can imagine it has something to do with the fact that the mixer motor (which I just replaced last week) needs to run through it’s travel limits and the power shed all vehicles do when starting. The blower is strong after about 10 to 15 seconds but nothing I’ve ever noticed as being a problem. What was your symptoms for a bad Tipmi. I have a nice start issue. Was holding key for about 1 min then it would work for a few days. Now nothing. Powers the dash and everything. I replaced battery,starter, ignition module, new key fobs, and break pedal switch

How do you get a 2009 TIPM apart? I've taken out all the fuses and relays and removed the three torx screws. Didn't want to pry too hard on it.

Circuitboard Medics DOES NOT work on 09 ram tipms. I sent mine for repair service and they sent it back saying they work on 2010s on up

Sorry by now it’s long gone. Check all the main stream auto part store’s website, Amazon, and eBay. You may also need to local you pick junckyards. Good luck 👍🏻

Sounds like it, I would check fuses and then power at the components, other than that a qualified mech may need to be consulted.

Think of it like the fuse box to your house but controlled by a computer. It directs the signals from the trucks cpu to distribute power to the device you are operating.....at least that’s how I understand it lol.

Did you notice the malfunctions in the wipers or blower for HVAC only acted up when it was cold out? That is when mine acts up.

Sounds like the TIPM, multiple unrelated electrical issues is a very good indicator.

You would need to contact Circuit Board Medics for that info, when I asked they said they swap components with commonly known issues but would not go into detail.

When you took the stock one out and replaced it with the one from the salvage yard did you have to get it reprogrammed? Or did it just give you warning lights like at the end of the video?

Gerardo Alvarez only from a 09 1500, my research showed that 4.7 or Hemi it should not matter.....I also couldn’t find any other vehicles that crossed over using the same engine.

James Taylor I had numerous issues all at the same time. To include no turn signals, no wiper blades, no AC blower, ABS light, ESP light, no headlights, no electric windows.

Tsgt Vance I have a weird p303 that turned into a random misfire. Along with a loud tick an low idle. I’ve changed the coils, plugs, and injectors, on cylinder 3 before the random misfire. Then changed the MAP sensor, and alternator. Nothing has helped.
