Thanks for the video it helped me a ton. There's been some questions about the studs and I can see why. All my studs stayed in place, both on the turbo by the exhaust and also where the turbo mounts to the engine. This makes it impossible to "push the turbo back" as stated in the video. I had to pry the exhaust away from the turbo first, which was not easy at all, but eventually I was able to move it far enough to get it off the studs, and then push the turbo back to get it off the mounting studs. Hope that helps others!

broke one of the banjo bolts on the turbo side, now the turbo has to come out smh.. lol "aw shit... here we go again" ..hopefully i can extract the broken bolt piece stuck in there and keep this turbo.

@@DirtRoadAutoRepair got it done without a problem! Even extracting the broken bolt was easy. Used a flathead screwdriver for that. My saab is a 2005 Arc, which has a different, slightly bigger turbo. So there were a few extra things to remove and do. Not much, nothing crazy. Thanks you and this video!

That’s above my pay grade. My assumption would be not necessarily, but if you want to optimize/maximize power (guessing that’s the reason for the bigger turbo) then yes tuning would be a good idea.

You can. Will it be optimal? Idk. Depends on a lot of thinks. It’s not as simple as slapping a turbo on an engine.

Clip on the connector just needs to push in and it comes out no need to take off

Why would you..? You just take the nuts off, and then slide the turbo down, off the studs and you're set.

@@benjensen8147 Try removing the thermostat housing and coolant expansion tank, then put a 6 inch 1/4 extension on a small ratchet and swing the ratchet kind of inside where the thermostat housing sits.

To my knowledge no computer work needs to be done unless you are putting in a different sized turbo. OEM turbo can just be straight mounted after you pull the old one.

@leahcim38 yes but I wasn't taking the computer out or anything. So I don't know why them being a sought-after commodity would have very much to do with replacing the Turbo. Does it need computer work or when changing the turbo? If keeping the computer the same.

Came out with the nuts. Sometimes the nut won’t break free and the stud just turns out instead.

Did you check the turbo that you put in before or was it from a certified dealership not some overseas Turbo? Also you need to know where the turbo came from because to my understanding people can that's what the computer and and have it push mower air in don't know how hell of a lot about it I'm getting ready to do a turbo job and this is what the garage told me if it helps then good

Where is the oil leaking from on your engine near the turbo? I came to this video looking for clues as to why I have oil smoke coming from the turbo area. There's no oil dripping under.

It could be your valve cover gasket leaking onto the exhaust manifold.

@@DirtRoadAutoRepair I thought that. Since I wrote the first post I've found that the smoke is coming from under the lower heat shield. Oil is getting in there somehow and is vaporising. I can't see any wet oil anywhere.

The car in the video definitely needs the valve cover gasket replaced. If you replace the valve cover gasket and it doesn't stop your oil leaking also replace your vacuum pump gaskets.
