I am glad I watched you video. Cause I didn't know about the tap and I couldn't figure out why the hose clumps had rubber stoppers on them. Now I know it's because you're not supposed to take them off. You did get me with the cleaning of the overflow bottle.

Cheers for the feedback Ben, I think its very important to be supplying people the info the need to do these sorta jobs, especially the nitty gritty, which as you say, people unfortunately skip over

Obviously, when the coolant is fully drained the block is empty. Basically it is better to take off thermistat housing , clean and fill block from there and then replace with new thermistat on such a job. Obviously there is enormous wear occurring with a dry block waiting for the thermistat tp open and in goes cold coolant. Yikes. Leaving it drain for a very long time like you did is also good and should be reiterated as coolant trickles thru the tiny pressure hole of the thermistat takes a very long time and you were correct in adding the next few litres before starting the engine. Also with acale build up a reverse flush is worthwhile and a mild acid like 3 liters of viinegar mixed in the flush water can speed up the process of you leave it in a couple of days of daily driver, then do the thermistat after draining

The XR6 Turbo takes 8 litres of coolant.

Mate undo the bottom radiator hose , take out both thermostats(yes both BF has one under the air trunk for warming the Auto) and flush the whole system out heaps with clean water. This is after you have run a flush through it before you start the job And always remember to run the demineralized water through it and drain before filling it up with your new coolant. Stop all the the talk, get into the terminology so we can teach the younger blokes what is what. I just want us to be better youtubers.

Would opening the radiator drain tap drain the whole block and heater circuit in a BA Falcon Colin?
