Really enjoy your videos and appreciate the time you take to make them. Wanted to add a bit of advice on changing out the mirror puddle lights. When you're trying to "push" out the clip you have to angle your screw driver downwards so that the clip compresses and not straight in. If you go straight in you'll be hitting the top of the clip and it won't budge. Mine took a bit of effort but finally popped out. One other thing worth mentioning, when you pry off the mirror there's always a good chance you'll break a clip or two. So be careful on the removal and install of the mirror.

Yes, your videos are indeed helpful and entertaining at the same time. I'm happy that you have gained a following and that every comment that I read here is pleasant, unlike some other KZbin channels. I think that we all really appreciate you for what you teach us. I know that I do. The only regret in my mind with getting an XFR in the 2010-2012 range is going to be the infotainment system. It just won't have the technology of the newer cars. If you can live with that and or find solutions around it, I think that you will love the car.

Thanks Rick. I'm looking at a 2012 and up XFR - facelift. I'm not too concerned with the media system, as long as it can play my music from USB I'm happy. Even with my new XF, I often have to use my phone's GPS because the satnav is cumbersome to use and already outdated. The XFR is just awesome to listen to and a total beast. I'm gutted I lost that one on Saturday. The salesman was actually more concerned with sanitizing everything than actually selling me the car and faffed too much. It would have been a great car to own. I'm gutted. But hopefully I'll find a better one ;) Thanks for your support and watching.

@@carfanfan ...I've plugged in my iPhone into the USB port of my 2010 XF (just to keep it powered and charging) and I've never seen anything in my entertainment system that would allow me to pull music off my phone and into the entertainment system to play, say, Spotify or XM radio. Maybe a tutorial on that would be something you could look at teaching us in the future? Thanks for the kind words.

I've got to admit, I think the X250 looks miles better, more muscular, sporty and characterful. I'm not criticizing the Jaguar designers in any way but I think they've made the new version a bit "flat" if you know what I mean. @carfanfan

Hi Edwina. You need to replace the two larger shocks. The smaller one's are actually not shocks, they are springs which assist in the auto open. The shocks are called gas struts and I'd recommend getting the Jag ones because I used the aftermarket ones on my car first and they kept popping off.

@carfanfan
@carfanfan 3 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid blind spot monitoring is something you must purchase already fitted to the car. It's not just a plug and play affair. The canbus of the car needs to be updated and the entire mirror needs to be changed as the sensors are built into the internals of the mirror housing.

@carfanfan
@carfanfan 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mo. Switching the 8 for a 10 inch screen is difficult when going OEM. The plugs are different and the canbus needs to be programmed for the larger screen. It can be done but it will be quite a faff to get right. Sort of when guys replace their stand6 headlights with the LED ones and then have a fast ticking blinker which can't be resolved. Some things will work, others just won't. Hope that helps 😉

Great video as always, but would it not be possible to prise out the light fitting from outside the mirror housing rather than removing the mirror? I only ask because I broke one mirror when trying to snap it off on my last car (as luck has it, it was a heated mirror and the heating element had failed so I was replacing it anyway), but I had to be really careful putting the new one back on as I had to press really hard to snap it back in and I was concerned I might break the new one too. It looks to me as though a small knife would slide in from the bottom of the mirror, on the side where the clip is. Having removed these already, do you think it would be possible to do it that way? I can't try it at the moment as I don't have the car for a couple of days. Very odd that the owner's handbook tells you how to change all the exterior bulbs except this one - in fact there's no mention of it at all in the handbook!
@carfanfan
@carfanfan 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, you then risk breaking the light fitting. That clip is really in there tight and one needs to leverage a screw driver on top of the clip in order to press it down. Some guys have said they've left the mirror in place and stuck the screwdriver under the mirror. I tried that and it didn't work.

Hi bro, what do you think about engine and highway body noise in Jaguar XF 2020? I know that diesel engines are actually surprisingly quiet, as well as powerful, helping the XF to be a great overall package as a motorway car. Although the 3.0-litre diesels pack more punch and are slightly smoother, the 197bhp 2.2-litre is still a good engine and is the one to go for if you want the best all-rounder. Do you think does external insulation work? Cheers
@carfanfan
@carfanfan 4 жыл бұрын
The XF is very quiet at motorway speeds. I only my XF's engine if I floor it hard to overtake, but once cruising again, it's really quiet. the NVH in Jags has always been good - even in the older generation XF's. The older one suffered from a little bit of wind noise by the mirrors but not all of them did which was the case with my older XF. It was super quiet. You won't hear much wind or engine noise, just a bit of road noise from the tires, but it's quiet enough at high speed to have a conversation - around 140kph or 80mph - very quiet.

Hey there. Many thanks for watching. As far as I'm aware, the antenna has a booster which is part of the rear screen demister. Check that your demister is working properly because if it isn't, it's possible even the smallest scratch on the inside of that glass can break the contact. If broken, your booster will not be working. I doubt the antenna itself is faulty as if it is, it would be the first time I hear of one becoming faulty. Hey Hilton, would you recommend chiptuning for the Jaguar XF? I own a XF x250, 241HP Diesel. Just curious to hear your thoughts or if you had any experience with chiptuning.
@carfanfan
@carfanfan 4 жыл бұрын
Hey there. Honestly, it's up to each person. I do know the diesel felt a bit underpowered to me when I test drove it. Lots of torque though, but runs out of breath at higher RPM. The petrol was way more punchier to me. If your engine is in good condition and regularly serviced, then it shouldn't pose a mechanical issue. But if you're uncertain of the history, I'd be careful. Even though engines can be tuned to produce more power, the hang-on ancillary components are not designed for that extra power and they start to fail. Just saying, but honestly, it's your car and you should do what you want with it. You only live once. My motto is, regret your mistakes today than live to get old and regret not having made those mistakes at all.

The toughest part of the mirror light was the angle needed to pry it out with the flathead . Let the mirror glass dangle so you have the up top leverage as you slide flathead into the slit . Then go left to right with an up top downwards angle as you push to light thru the bottom of the mirror housing . Pause

Unfortunately when I did this on my xf it was very hard to remove the lamp holder from the mirror. Eventually I got it out but heard a loud click when it was being removed. Not good. The tabs on the lamp holder are fine but I must have broken something in the mirror as when I put it back in it falls out after about 2 days use. It is now held in place with some tape. I may have to disassemble the entire wing mirror to see what is wrong. My advise to others is to leave it alone.
@carfanfan
@carfanfan 2 жыл бұрын
The mirror tabs don't break that easily. Pull the mirror off and make sure you didn't accidentally bend them when putting the mirror back on. If you did, gently bend them back to their position and gently try and click it back in place to ensure all tabs click onto the bracket inside the housing. Don't rush it, check the housing to see where the tabs click on and then align the mirror properly before clicking it back in place.
