Maybe a good tip. If you find out it's not the injectors leaking check oil level if its to high it is probably the hpfp. Good tip btw from kern and if you are a car mechanic and you have a petrol exhaust gas tester and it can measure HC do it like this instead of smelling because you will have a visual confirmation because it will skyrocket with the leaking injector

Hi kern, Have been doing this check regularly. Noticed the speed at which it raises is alot slower then it used to. Also used to go past 1700 whereas now it only goes up to 1600 slowly. Should i be concerned?

Hello Kern, Thank you for uploading these valuable videos. My 2016 340I was having a hard time starting up and after it did start up and get warmed up to operating temperature, after I shut off the car, I would have to wait until the engine is completely cooled before I attempt to start the car again, otherwise, it would not start, just crank and fail to start. I notice that it starts better when I have the battery hooked up with jumper cables to another car. I also got a little better after I changed my spark plugs recently. The car starts up faster now but still lags a little bit before starting up not nearly as bad as before changing the spark plugs though. It is at 97K miles. I am confused if battery replacement will fix this, or starter motor or do I need to change my coil packs as well as injectors? I have not scanned the car for codes since I don't have the scanner. Any advise would be greatly helpful.

I found filtered rail pressure actual value which mine toggled between 13 14 mpa. When i turned it off it was toggling 16 17 mpa

I have a 2016 Mini Cooper S that I'm trying to figure out the misfire on. I did this and the reading when first warming up was around 1700. After running for a few minutes, it jump to 2700. That seems scary high. What could cause that?

This is unrelated to the video but I had a question. Could I install my P.R. PI system with a stock turbo? I do plan on going with a Pure 800 soon but thats when I save up. I have the port injection already and wanted to know if I was able to install it with the stock turbo, would it be beneficial or should I just wait to install everything all at once. I have a TU pump already. Thank you. love the videos!

You can do it. The main benefit is running higher ethanol content without losing power, and more boost / torque down low than the system can support with just an hpfp upgrade.

Kern, firstly thank you for the useful content as always. I wanted to ask if a bad fuel injector could be causing throttle lag/power surging. I have an issue with my B58 M240i and other in forums seem to be experiencing it and they either title it as throttle lag or pier surge when accelerating from standstill. Are you able to release a video on this issue?

Hi Kern! I love your stuff. So I've just installed a TU pump and I'm having some issues. Just did the test you do in the video and after I shut off my car , the rail 1 pressure drops immediately from 1450 psi at idle to 650 and going down from there in like 15 s . I can't really see any fuel dripping from the fuel lines . Do you think the pump is mounted badly? The car did not misfire once , the horsepower is there also .

same low pressure issue. they replaced my lpfp a year ago but did not fix it. It happens when ambient temp gets warm recently. Dealer basic could not do anything since no cel. The hard crank happens every morning. It now starts like a tractor.

How long does it take for a leaky injector to cause catastrophic damage? Will a leaky injector cause immediate engine failure or would you be able to catch the issue in time?

no, there's some variation since it's just a sensor reading the data. an upward trend is good.

yes it can help catch it before it causes damage. just do a check every once in a while.

Is there a way similar to this to check ur fuel pump? I randomly get the starter system fault error but after pressing the start button again the car starts up so I’m not sure

Lpfp? The car has a lot of monitors for fuel delivery and will usually throw a code if your low pressure pump is bad

It raises pressure only when the engine is super hot. After normal driving it loose the pressure slowly, even I drive 20-30 mins. I checked all plugs and 2 and 6 smell of gas, but tip looks clean. Does it mean a minor leaking?

​@@Slow2.0 I replaced them. Plug gas smell gone, but loosing pressure slowly after turn off engine. Lines are not leaking, maybe issue with hpfp...? I have doubts concerning of this check. Anyway, car runs well.

I feel like every once in a while I have a strong fuel smell but I'm also catless. I remember like 15k miles ago we hung out behind my car while it was running and we all smelled like gas. Now I'm tripping myself out because every once in a while the car does smell like gas but sometimes it doesn't. Could it be a warm vs cold start issue? My HPFP is holding pressure after turning off the car like Kern showed

hey does this apply to the gen 1 b58 with a stock fuel pump? im running a stage 1 tune without any upgrades to my fuel pump. Getting an error code: 11AA08 (High-pressure fuel system: pressure reduction too high) rail pressure is going down on the mhd Monitor as well.

Having this exact issue. Same code, rail pressure going down after engine shutdown. Then I popped the hood while engine running to check for leaks around the rails, didn’t see any. I just ordered new Bosch OE injectors from FCP euro, I’m going to replace them this weekend and provide an update if it fixes my issue, in case anyone reading is still having the issue. (I am running dorch stage 1 hpfp and stage 2+ OTS flex fuel with bootmod3)

@@tuchilds981 Yes but it wasn’t the injectors, It was the HPFP itself. I guess the it wasn’t installed properly in the first place. I took the whole thing off then reinstalled it, worked fine after. Sounds like a PIA but I’d try that if I were you. In the end I actually replaced it just a couple weeks ago with a DS25 since I might go DAW flowmax soon, so now I just have the spare DS1 sitting around

Hey Kern, I have an issue that I want your opinion on. I have a 2016 340 manual and I'm having an issue where at idle the revs drop like the car's about to shut off but it like catches itself and returns to regular idle. About a yr or so ago it got so bad as to throw a drive train malfunction. Took it to the dealer to diagnose an they said it was the tank vent valve. Bought the part and replaced it myself rather than paying $5-600 at the dealer. Have you or anyone else been having this issue? What do you think could be causing it to happen again an again? Haven't replaced the valve again but thinking about it.

I had the issue, and indeed it was the tank valve. I believe it happens if you fillings up your car with gas, without turning it off.

@@KrisGenchev this is interesting because if I remember correctly the issue really started to feel worse after I tried to switch from BP gas to shell. Previously when I started the car it would be a suble stumble like it wanted to die but after I filled up with shell it got worse an I switched back to BP. Not sure if that had anything to do with it but don't think it helped either.

@@kern417 Thank you Kern! After doing what you said I noticed pressure going down right after turn off and to about 200psi from 1400-1500 after about 4 minutes. I did get a cel for misfire but didn’t come back and had some white smoke for the first time the other day. I’m thinking that’s enough of a sign to do all injectors but not 100% sure. Any input is appreciated thank you
