absolutely learned a lot from your video about fabrics to line hats. I haven't ever lined a hat, I bought fleece and one that is super soft but no stretch, so looking for answers before I start. My hat is made in the knit look crochet, using slip stitch, a wool acrylic blend, so super stretch. I don't don't think I can use the super soft material without any stretch, so your video helped explain what works best, plus the pattern and color choices. Thanks for sharing

You’re welcome! Glad to help you get started. You’re on the right track thinking about the stretch, it’ll definitely make a big difference.

Wow! What a fantastic video! Thanks so much for the info, not only on fabrics, but picking and pairing patterns. I will use this info for other crafts beyond lining hats. Great with the companion video on the actual lining process. Thank you for both.

I wish I had seen this video before buying my fleece! I have the non-stretchy one and believe me, there is NO give. OK, back to the store I go!

Hey Rhonda - try working on the bias if you have enough - so not straight up and down or side to side but on a diagonal - almost all fabric will stretch that way. Just a matter of if you have enough. Let me know how you make out!

Thanks so much for the tutorial. Can you suggest a silky or satin like stretchy fabric as a lining?

Hmmm everything changes in the fabric stores around here I would suggest talking to the staff at your store and ask for something with lycra/spandex in it. Best of luck!

I love your videos! I have curly hair and have been wanting to line my hats with a satin fabric, so I don't get as much "fuzz". I saw your video of how you create the fleece-lined ones. How would I trace and work satin in a loser beanie?
@prettydarnadorable
@prettydarnadorable 4 жыл бұрын
That will be harder just because satin is so slippery. I would recommend doing one layer of fabric at a time. Also trace and cut it on the bias so it will have some stretch to it. Hope this helps ;)

I just purchase a satin sleeping bonnet and wear it beneath my hats. Keeps my curls looking nice.

Can this work with silk fabric ?
@prettydarnadorable
@prettydarnadorable 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it will be tricky because it will be slippery. Be sure to cut on the bias so it has some stretch 😊

I'm looking to line a hat I bought (100% acrylic, initially for cosplay), but I'm having trouble picking a specific fabric. I've pretty much settled on a solid black or dark grey, but what would you recommend for the material? I want something that's breathable and moisture wicking, yet able to keep my head and ears warm during the winter.

I might try some bamboo fabric, it keeps warm and wicks away moisture, least what ive found it to be. And it doesn't have to be full bamboo either

Thank you so much for your tutorials. You're taking my crochet to the next level. I have a brand new Singer Heavy Duty sewing machine and a serger someone gave me. Don't know how to sew but have read the whole Sewing for Dummies book. Have hemmed stuff but that's it. Anyways, just wanted you to know that the fashion industry is the 2nd largest polluter on the planet. We pretend to recycle but that the recycle ♻️ simble is a farce. Less than 1% is recycled. They send the trash and dump it in Indonesia. The oil industry has done a great job psyoping ppl into not using animal fabrics and their plastic man made fabrics instead which are NOT environmentally friendly in the least bit. Plastic fabrics don't decompose where animal products decompose back into the Earth. The way I see it is if the animal is getting eaten ect, the whole animal should be used. Watch some documentaries on the pollution and fake recycling psyop. Like I said, the fashion industry is said to be the 2nd largest polluter on the planet. Behind the oil industry I am guessing though the plastic fabric comes from the oil... so yeah! There's that. If you want to be vegan and environmentally friendly you would have to wear just cotton, linen and hemp lol. No plastic. Yes, it was a scam, a scheme and deliberate. The old Greenpeace people now regret what they did. They got played.
