You are a life saver. I was having trouble finding details like this online. Also got blown away to learn Hugh Laurie has an Anthro degree! Im looking into how to make anthro/archaeology degrees more flexible through added minors and such. I am sure a study abroad program would boost my chances for sure.

The way I'm watching this after just starting my Masters, and the way I am agreeing with these tips 100%. I know the US system is very different, but these tips should fully be used. Especially the tip of not choosing a school solely on the name, and this is something I did when I was in undergrad and now that I'm looking more towards graduate schools, you realize the name of the school means little when compared to the actual program itself. Great video! Also a bit off topic, but I think it would be cool if you looked into and did a reaction video about Bones the TV Show (IDK if you heard of it). Its a show about Forensic Anthropologist (practically the only American show to go mainstream and focused on Anthropology), and it is very interesting to watch especially with a background in Anthropology/Archaeology.

Yes completely agree and that's something I learned for my masters too! I have every intention of doing that video in saving the show just for this reason lool. I want to be doing the course and have a bit more knowledge to base my reaction off before I do though:)

Shout out to Bournemouth for exactly what you were talking about with Uclan! I did a BSc in Archaeology at Bournemouth where they are clearly not the best uni but the Arch dept is so so awesome, I got nine weeks of field work for free spread over my three years there! Free! I didn't have to arrange anything myself apart from accommodation (which was easily done by arranging an 11/12 month contract on a house). We also had field trips and lab lessons in second and third year, in human remains, drawing, and 'material studies'. The whole dept knew my name as it's very small (there were six people on my course) which meant that my references were very personal and in depth! They also supported me so well when I said I wanted to go to Oxford for my masters which I got into, honestly I'm about to hopefully start a PhD at York with the help that Bournemouth gave me, without it I probably would never have gotten into academics the way I have.

Your video was extremely helpful. I have to say I'm already a graduate and I'm doing my master in prehistoric archaeology. I came here quite interested in postgraduate studies in the UK and job opportunities (e.g. summer jobs as an archaeologist). I'm from Spain and preparing to take my PhD. Also, specialising in use wear analysis, I've heard they do that in Exeter? Thanks in advance.

I am India and even though india is rich in cultural heritage archaeology is not supported, but I really want to take tht course.. even though I have to face opposition.. Can you tell me the subject combination you took when you did your ba at Oxford and the available combination. Does studying at Oxford create more career paths also is it really expensive??!! I'm sorry I have huge doubts but I hope u could answer this question..

I am from Uruguay and have a Bachelors degree in Communications. I work in the cinema industry, but I'm interested in studying archeology. I don't know where to start. My academic background has nothing to do with archeology, and my country offers so little options. I wanted to know if you could offer some guide of what basic background should I have to then search for more advanced ways of studying courses online.

Hi! What is your advice for getting into archaeology? I went to uni about 6 years ago and did a totally different course which I now regret. I've always wanted to get into archaeology but how would you advise I can do that starting from scratch if I didn't have uni as an option?

You definitely don't need a degree but field experience (through volunteering would definitely help). There are also archaeology traineeships with MOLA that I don't think need a degree :)

University of Southampton 2. University of Liverpool 3. University of Glasgow As you have mentioned in this video, I look more into the practical aspect of this field. So, do you mind giving me some suggestions, awaiting your response.

Hello I am an indian in class 12 right now having commerce stream. I want to be an archaeologist but my parents aren't much convinced by my decision. This is mainly because this field hasn't grown much in india. I had talked with my teacher and she told me to do ba in history as I haven't studied history in 11 and 12 because I haven't taken arts stream and then she advices me to do ma in archaeology. 1.I want to do archaeology outside india. So won't it be a disadvantage that I have studied history of india and then practicing in some other country whose history I haven't even studied? 2. What is the minimum salary of an archaeologist? 3. What if I study ba and ma both in history and then is it easy to become a history professor or history teacher outside inida having studied history of india ? Please please answer my doubts as I don't have anyone to answer my questions. Your reply will be of great assistance to me. Thank You

Working class people know it exists....we are just told its illogical and extremely difficult to pursue (you need lots of higher ed...which is expensive....am I being too obvious? I think I am....) Anyway I do think its cool you went to Oxford, but that comment regarding "the working class" was, well classist. We know it exists sis, we just are pushed to pursue areas that have a higher chance of a guaranteed financial return... Thank you for taking time to make and upload this video. I'm over 50,000 in debt, with an English degree from a state school in America. Yes, I'm looking into pursuing this, but I probably can't afford to... Best, from the US!
