Just the video I was looking for. I struggled today to try to figure out how to access this little bugger. Great video. No stupid talk or sound effects. Right to the point. Excellent video shots. You have a new subscriber, sir. Thank you for the time that you put into making this video.

Great job on the camera work. I'm surprised you could get such a good view while cleaning the jets. Thanks for the vid.

I have a 2004 Craftsman 8HP snowblower with a Briggs engine and haven’t had any issues. I run it out of gas every year for summer storage and have only removed the carb bowl and jet once for cleaning.

That's great! These MTD engines are quick to gum up for some reason.

Is there any chance you can do a video on installing a fuel shutoff valve on this model? It is almost impossible due to the lack of room but I believe in you 👍🏾

I have this model. Mine runs but once I engage the auger and or the drive it shuts down. Its too cold to work on it right now. Gonna try to run some seafoam through it and if that doesn't help then maybe try this.
@thesmallenginerepairguy10 ай бұрын
Make sure the auger can spin and that the impeller is not siezed. If it's siezed then that could stop the engine once it's engaged.

@@thesmallenginerepairguyIt got to the point where it would start but only run in full choke. I cleaned the carb and it is now working. It was pretty clean but that tiny hole in the black plug on top was clogged. Not sure why that is such a big deal but it was.

When i turn my choke to full left it wants to bog down....only been doing it for 15 years since the day i bought it LOL...any ideas? I mean is starts and does its job...i just need to turn the throttle back a little.
@thesmallenginerepairguy10 ай бұрын
The throttle control is the lever with the rabbit and turtle. The choke is the round knob. Sounds like a cleaning might be in your future to make that thing sing.

I hope this video helps someone tackle a no start issue with their MTD engine. Stick with it, don't give up. Good luck!!!

When assembling the carburetor bowl not you should use an impact use a ratchet for the bowl nut U will strip it
@thesmallenginerepairguy9 ай бұрын
@stevesmith6058 I agree with you for the average person. Good point. I know my torque on the 1/4 driver and it's fine. Thanks for the tip!

My carb is leaking gas from out of the air inlet(parked not in use), any ideas what it could be?
@thesmallenginerepairguy24 күн бұрын
@@michaelreale3647 sounds like a stuck float. Drop the carb fuel bowl and verify it shuts off the fuel when it's in the lifted position.

I got mine out today and it's doing the same thing. It's on the to do list for tomorrow

Briefly thought about tackling this project and thanks to your video I will not! Nice work though. I’d just assume buy a new blower lol.
@thesmallenginerepairguy9 ай бұрын
For about $30, you can buy the stuff I'm using to fix it. Way cheaper than a new machine!

I' surprised this particular installation has NO air filter. Not even a basic foam pad. That would help to prevent ingestion of particulates into the system
@thesmallenginerepairguy11 ай бұрын
Good question. I think the reason is these machines are not ran in dusty conditions like lawn mowers and most other power equipment.
@wicker1234Ай бұрын
@@thesmallenginerepairguy No dust in snowy conditions. Outboard motors also have no air filter.
