Most fish don't have bones hard enough for this type of processing skip the boiling and find someone with dermestid beatles or find a nice fire ant colony then once the meat is gone soak in room temp 3% peroxide for hours until it reaches desired whiteness. I process all of my bones without boiling his process is quicker but I prefer my results but thats personal taste .
@Fstk_the_Birb4 жыл бұрын
I made a very clean sea-bass skull Also I get it from my oily dinner... And here is how I did it (sorry for bad English) First you must get all the bones from the head. They don't have just a few simple bones. It can be more than 20-30 bones in a fish head. Then brush them gently with hot soapy water until there is no meat on it. And leave it in detergent water about 2 or more days. Then take the bones and brush them gently again and leave them for dry about one day. Final step and the hardest step is remembering the places of bones. I still haven't done this but bones are fine and clean. I recommend seabass because it has little oil and strong bones I tried also bream but I couldn't get rid of fat inside the bones...

That went well with my Rocky Road ice cream. Ha! The stock tank reminds me of when I did my buffalo. I had never boiled a skull like that. My sister had a place in the country so I went out there, found a stock tank, propped it up on bricks and started a wood fire. I quickly learned that I wasn't able to lift it out of the tank to check it due to the heat, so wrapped a rope around the horns, threw the rope over a tree limb, and tied off on the bumper of my wife's Subaru. Every so often I'd back the car up to check it. Did lose some small pieces of the bases due to boiling too long, which is too bad as it measured up between the 3rd & 4th largest since Boone & Crocket started. This was in 1982.

Hello! I happen to have a longhorn skull given to me from my Grandpa’s and I’ve been pondering on how to thoroughly clean it. The head had been sitting out for a while, thus most of the fur/other flesh is gone, besides a somewhat large segment of cartilage on the top of the skull. Pretty sure it had been in the water for a bit due to the green areas inside the horns as well. Any tips would be appreciated!
