How to Clean A Rifle Barrel The Easy Way

I always had trouble getting the patches to fit in the barrel until this method came together. Sinclair international bore guide with solvent port, a disposable pipette for the solvent, a jag with a properly sized patch wrapped around the jab (not over the top). Easy after that.

Are bore guides for bolt actions only? Can you use a bore guide from the muzzle end. On some guns you have to clean from muzzle end.

Always assume it's loaded. Should have checked it before it was put in the cradle when it was picked up.

The patches are sold to fit different caliber/diameter barrels. I just by the patches size for the barrel I am cleaning. They are made by the same company that sold the jag, but other brands would probably work, too.

Water does not compress, same goes for oil. Oil in the barrel is a no go with high projectile pressures involved.

I was told you never want oil in chamber because you want the shell case to expand and grip the chamber and not allow the cartridge to be able to slip and push backwards and put un-necessary stress on bolt block from mechanical stress and possibly high gas pressure leakage towards bolt section. This leakage I was told can be seen as stripe marks down along the length of cartridge, as also seen if someone is shooting in rain and chamber becomes wet. Was told shooting a AR Platform with a wet chamber is a big no no. Your thoughts anyone? Happy shooting! ✌️😎👍

When storing for a few months or more it needs to be oiled it can be removed with a chamber mop or a shotgun mop of appropriate size before your next shooting session

@@coffeemaninsanity8596 Absolutely correct. Clean out the chamber and push a dry patch or two down the bore to remove any storage oil used to prevent rusting over long storage times. I store lightly lubricated and use a re-chargeable desiccant canister to keep humidity in check. There are also electric low wattage heating rods for gun vaults. My research shows 35-45% RH ideal. It appears humidity control is more of an issue with metal gun safes, and not so or as much with wood and glass gun cabs. Enjoy shooting and stay safe my friend. ✌️😎👍🇺🇸
