Is that sand at the bottom so neccesary or can it go without anything sst the bottom?
@turtleholic8 күн бұрын
It's not necessary, its for aesthetic purposes. Turtles also like to dig, so that why having something at the bottom is good.

1:47 the gunk that went onto the sponge is probably the material that the basking platform itself is made from, breaking off

What water filter do you use? How many watts is there one you use? Also are you able to reuse the sponges that comes with it
@turtleholicАй бұрын
Hi, I use two of these filters: amzn.to/3OjF45u . And yes, I reuse the sponges. I just give them a good wash every two weeks or so.

It says the filter sponges for your filter take about a month to arrive. Is that true? How oftern have you had to buy new ones.
@turtleholic3 ай бұрын
So far I just bought the filter, and then I use other sponges as replacements. Probably not ideal, but it gets the job done.

Is cleaning the hard mineral deposits with vinegar safe? If not, what are turtle-friendly ways you can recommend? :)
@turtleholic8 ай бұрын
Yes you can use vinegar! I’d just recommend mixing the vinegar with some water to dilute it a little bit before you scrub your tank with it.

How long do we wait for the water to be dechlorinated
@turtleholic8 ай бұрын
Great question. The conditioner works immediately so you can add your turtle back right after you put the conditioner in.
@winstonc85104 ай бұрын
You can also prepare water in a bucket 48 hrs before changing the water, because exposing chlorinated water to oxygen will help evaporate the chlorine

My turtle ate my sand and I got a $500 vet bill along with her not eating for a month
@turtleholic8 ай бұрын
Oh no, that sucks. $500 is a pretty steep bill. Did they have to perform surgery?
@mcaldwell17 ай бұрын
Nope X-rays, meds and bill. That was the first time. Had to go again and it was another $400 because it came out and got stuck so they did another xray, enema and meds. She just ate $10 worth of plants and a sucker fish!

You will definitely have to do a full water change. And then clean out the sponges in your filter. If the smell keeps returning, you probably need a stronger filter.
