Thank you for this, I bought an Eco and I'm new to fountain pens and realized I had no idea how to clean it since I can't take it apart the way most other pens come apart lol

I smoked a joint and cleaned my pen - you’ve saved my life twice now because I couldn’t get it reassembled for the life of me and, once I did (from watching this video) it kept dripping! In trying to fix that, I accidentally bent the little metal part and made it so ink wouldn’t feed out. I am hoping it will work now that I’ve fiddled with it, trying to straighten & realign it 😭 thank you

Got this pen as an ‘if I lose it, it’s no biggie’ pen as my daily writers are a Visconti HS dark age and a Montblanc 146. I take this to conferences and when I’m travelling for work. Really surprised how well this writes for such a value price point!!

Nice video, I knew that the nib unit could be disassembled like this but I never did, I just flush my twsbi using the piston and grease it once every two months or so, never had a problem even while using iron gall ink.

When I try to get my nib out I just end up bending the plastic fins under the nib. I'm afraid if I try harder I will damage the feed.
@thestationerydev Жыл бұрын
You might try running some warm water through the pen with the piston and that might help loosen things up. Otherwise, you can use a piece of tape, jar gripper, or something else to help you grip the nib and feed with less pressure.

I got a twsbi eco and I can't get the nib out without damaging the bottom of it. Any tips?
@thestationerydev Жыл бұрын
To help with grip, you can either use some scotch tape on the nib, or perhaps find a thin piece of rubber to grip. The feed comes out with the nib, so usually you can just grab both the nib and feed firmly between your thumb and index finger knuckle and wiggle them straight out. Hope that helps! Sometimes maybe running the nib under some warm water can help loosen stuff up as well.

I have a twsbi eco flow. I like to change ink colours often but I only have the one pen. Is it ok to empty the pen of the 'old' colour by pushing all the ink through the nib, or should I take the nib out each time first? Obviously then I flush the pen with water and refill with the 'new' colour. What is your advice?
@thestationerydev Жыл бұрын
You would be totally fine with just flushing everything out through the nib with the piston. Only downside would be that it might take a bit longer, and you might have some residual ink in there from the last color when you switch to the new color, but that's totally fine. If there is some of the old color still in there, the new color should even out after writing a few lines. No big deal.

I'm watching your video because I started to clean my Twisbi ECO today after being nearly empty and not used for about three months. My problem is I started using the piston to pull water into the barrel and each time I did the piston twist got shorter and shorter and now it won't twist at all. Do you know what might be wrong? I don't want to force it and break something.
@vwood211 ай бұрын
Ouch. That happened to me once. I removed nib & feed out, and soaked it in water with a few drops of dish soap for a few days. That dissolved enough ink to let me move the piston again. Then I disassemble the pen and reapplied silicon grease to the piston. Hope you get yours working again fingers crossed 🤞.

Hello, my twsbi eco which is F nib so hard. I chanced inks twice but both of them is not okay with this pen even tomoe river paper that pen is so harsh to write. What do you suggest is there any suggestions for this
@thestationerydev2 жыл бұрын
If after cleaning and using different inks the nib is still scratchy, then most likely your tines are probably not aligned. Two things that can help with this: 1) Try to figure out which tine is lower. If drawing a line left-to-right is scratchy then the left tine is lower. If drawing a line right-to-left is scratchy, then the right tine is lower. Then after you know which one is lower you can gently use your fingernail to start applying upward pressure to it to try to get it in line with the other. The key is gradual pressure. Put a little bit of pressure then test and so on until the tines are even and the pen writes smooth both ways. 2) If you are sure the tines are in alignment and it is still scratchy, you can get some micro mesh (really fine grain sandpaper; the one I use is 12,000 grit) and, with ink in the pen, draw a few figure eights. Then test the writing on paper and repeat the process gradually until you are happy with the smoothness. I don't have a video out yet on nib tuning, but there are some pretty good ones out there to watch. Good luck and hope that helps!

You can use a nail file. The one with with 4 grits. Use the finest grit and it’ll smooth the scratchiness.

moldy ink ??? 😮😢 how would I know ? I didn‘t even know this could happen 😢
@thestationerydev Жыл бұрын
Definitely can happen. I've had about 4 bottles go bad. Usually it's either floating on the top, or creates a slime in the bottle which is really stringy when you pull you pen or syringe out (or stops up the syringe in one of my cases). The other telltale sign is the smell. The ink will actually smell rotten and horrible, not just the usual chemical smell. Hope you never get it, but it is fairly common unfortunately.

Does anyone ask what happens if you don't clean it? I mean if you have a tiny amount of some red ink in there and then you fill it with black in, you will still get black ink when you write, you won't even notice the tiny amount of red ink. Tell me if I am wrong.
@advisord7637 Жыл бұрын
Why do you clean it using the piston if you are going to take off the feed and nib later? Wouldn't it be easier to just take the nib off and clean everything with water?
@thestationerydev Жыл бұрын
I do it just to kind of get water flowing through it and loosen up anything that has been dried, especially if it has been sitting for months like this one. Plus, it saves you hands from getting really inky with any ink left in the nib/feed.
