To remove the cog wheel without damaging the shaft take a 3 foot line of 40 pound braid line doubled over and wrap it around the underneath of the cog wheel and and give it a quick pop pulling straight out and the cog will pop off and you didn’t damage the shaft which is a fixed part p. s. Be sure to double the braid line before wrapping underneath the cog wheel. Works like a charm

Use some rubbing alchole it cleans the grase right off and gets the stains of it out! I do it with mine all the time just dont use on painted parts or side plates itll eat at the paint eventually!

when installing new spool bearings (I have the upgraded unsealed kind where you can see the ball bearings on one side) does it matter if the bearings go in face down or face up?

doesnt really matter Id recommend putting the open side down to keep dirt from getting in so they do not need to be cleaned as often.

When you say you only run 3 breaks. Do you mod them so only 3 work?

There is no modding that needs done they have a 6 pin breaking system and you can turn on as many or as little as you like. To turn them off you push them in till the pop in place. To turn them on pull it out till it slides up and down

I am terrified of doing this... I got a lot of money in my Ambassadeur's, from the 4600c3 to 6500c3. I know they aren't super expensive but I'm not rolling in $$ either. I've been adept at taking things apart all my life, but it's putting things back together, even with instructions LMAO

The reason a rocket has to knobs is to center the spool then adjust each one equally to dial in the tension

Lol 5500s don't spin that good, cog wheel and other parts are pretty cheap on the 5500s
