Following your guide, I just did my first chain clean in nearly 40 years! Your step-by-step instructions made things easy. My bike chain is now nice and shiny. PS I have only just bought another bike 38 years after having my last one.

I also take the cover off and give the front sprocket a clean. That little compartment also collects a lot of gunk. I'll usually do it on every second clean, or if i've been on a really dirty road. Some might find it overkill, but since I've inspected the rear sprocket while cleaning, I need that peace of mind with the front sprocket too. Great video as always. Greetings from Portugal. ✌

I found it critical to take off and clean the cover and front sprocket. The previous owner or owners built up so much gunk in there it was crazy thick!

As an added bonus the brake disk also gets a fresh coat of lube

Hehe, with O/X/W-ring chain you only have to lube the roller (which is rolling between the sprocket teeth), not the external link or the sprocket. I always clean the outer links (both sides) after I lubed the chain and the rear sprocket.

It's recommended to get some on the outside of the links to stop rust. Only really matters if you ride year-round tho.

great video also interested in air filter replacement/MT 07; fuel injector cleaning/ MT 07; high tension coil inspection MT 07. Thanks

If we still had access to the MT-07 in this video I could probably have a go at the air filter, but the other two are beyond me! I hope you find the guide you need out there somewhere (there's loads of MT-07 stuff on the Tube). Good luck. Cheers, Tony

Why do you not brush the inside of the chain? Surely this will reduce the wear on the sprocket teeth. To save money I use paraffin to clean the chain and 90w oil to lube.
@sportsbikeshop2 жыл бұрын
The rollers all get brushed as the chain comes around the sprocket, and the wipe down with a cloth finishes off the clean. If you mean lubing the inside of the chain then the first dose I give the chain goes between the sprocket teeth and the chain. Yup, paraffin and gear oil is a perfectly respectable combo to clean and lube a chain. It does demand a bit more regular re-application and not everyone has the time or patience for that. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

When’s the best time of year to do this? Technic without a stand?
@Dave-qq4lh2 жыл бұрын
You do it at certain periods. Maybe 300 miles or less.

and everything go on the break disk!! not a very clever way to do it 😐
@duncan91533 ай бұрын
I agree. When applying the lube you don't want to be pointing the straw in the direction of the brake disc. If you miss with the lube it'll go exactly where you don't want it to go!
