Question how do you ensure the metal gasket seals properly once you split the cooler from the valve body.Do you just clean the thin metal gasket or do you apply high temp silicone sealant to the gasket on reassembly,if so what brand do you use? I am assuming it has one although you didn't show it. I will be trying this method on a VW Golf Mk 6 1.6 tdi egr cooler

Did you try to use ultrasonic cleaning on the cooler? I have the same problem and doing like this will get clogged again pretty soon.

I made the same experience. Did clog again after 6500km.
