I ended up buying the pellets at tractor supply but I did buy an arm and hammer sifting. Litter tray comes with three trays. It’s so easy.

Hi Kim and kitties! I did put out a smaller box with the pine pellets, Feline Pine. I can't physically do the huge bags.I noticed with the pellets, they don't spend as much time burying solids. Easier to scoop. The box has a sifter so you can dump out the sawdust every other day or so. How often do you buy new boxes? Thanks! 👍 😺❤
@18catsunedited7 ай бұрын
I try to buy new boxes every other month or sooner if needed. I also scrub them as often as needed too. I know the 40lb bags get to be quite heavy at times. Glad you found a smaller version.

Thank you for doing this video but then you leave all the dissolved pellets there? Don't they smell? and then you pick it up when all the pellets are dissolved? Thanks

Pine pellets are essentially pine sawdust compacted into pellets. When they break apart as the cats use them, they are incredible absorbant for both moisture and odor. For extra odor control I use Sweet PDZ with the pellets. Both things can be found at Tractor Supply Company. If you want to see a more in depth explanation on how I do my boxes, please watch one of my Coffee and cleanup streams and join us Sunday mornings when we clean the boxes every weekend. I would love to see you there. 🩷🐈❤️

@MariaFLaRiva i scoop the solids out once a day and then I dump them out and change them 💯 on Wednesdays and Sundays. Hope all this helps.

Thanks for sharing your informative video, Kim, and lovely to see your furry helpers! They obviously like the new boxes. I also use pine pellets, but I don't think that I was filling the boxes enough. Your method works well, and I will try it. Thanks again. ❤xx

Mr. Chewy is getting so handsome! One of the problems I had with the pine pellets was that I wasn't sure if the pee sawdust was technically clean enough or acceptable for the cats since they were scratching around in it. My back started to hurt since I kept trying to scoop all of it out. Not sure if there's anyone who can answer whether it is a problem leaving the urine saw dust behind.

@Katmama66 Hi! What I do is that I bought an extra litter box with sifter (or you can build one) and whenever I see enough sawdust I use the sifter and put the remaining pellets back to their litter box. (I clean all poops first of course).

We did ours this way until we got sifting boxes. They have them everywhere now, how are you keeping them dry without the urine soaked shavings having a place to drop down to? What is PDZ?
@MtnGirll7 ай бұрын
Ok watching your other video. That PDZ looks life changing! How did you find out about it?
@18catsunedited7 ай бұрын
The pine pellets absorb the liquids and dry up almost immediately as you can see in the video. PDZ is specifically for ammonia control. It is mainly used in horse stalls.

This community actually told me about PDZ.

Hello Sweetie Pie Kim, babies and fellow kitty lovers😊 I do exactly as you do Kim. Haven't needed PDZ, but I only have 6 indoor babies. I scratch the pine pellets or saw dust around also, then clean my pan and add about 1 1/2 cups pine pellets and 1/3 c regular litter because I'm trying to use it up and strictly go to the pellets. Lots of ❤ and blessings to all!
@teresaarnold66057 ай бұрын
Sorry, forgot to add that I clean their litter pan and add fresh pellets every other day just refreshing with about 1/3 c pine pellets in between as Kim does. ❤

Hi Kim. I also need to replace my litter boxes. Question: Are the "litter pans" you bought from Home Depot metal or plastic?
@18catsunedited7 ай бұрын
They are plastic and very very durable.

Hi Kim what is it you put in there before the pine pellets when I saw the cleanup of the room vid yesterday and new boxes ❤
@18catsunedited7 ай бұрын
PDZ ammonia control granules. Get a 25lb bag for about $12.50 at TSC and it lasts a long time.

It's specifically used in horse stalls mostly to reduce ammonia and boy does it work.

You definitely need to put more pellets in those boxes, especially with so many different kitties using them. The pallets are what hold the urine turing into saw dust.... you should never have urine/sawdust stuck to the bottom like you have. That means theres not enough pellets. Which i can honestly see theres not enough.

Thanks for the advice

Not much pellets in the box. U don’t fill it up half way.
@18catsunedited7 ай бұрын
No. The pine pellets break apart and turn into sawdust which expands. So you only need a layer in the bottom. One of the reasons it is more cost effective. Great question.
