Little cleaning tip: Q-Tips, especially cheap versions, can leave little cotton strands or minute debris on slide rails, trigger mechanism, etc. I recommend getting (or stealing some of your significant other's) eye make-up applicators. They're as small as q-tips but do not shed at all.

Even the slightest amount of carbon buildup after firing acouple shots will be 1k times more of a hindrance than a qtip strand inside a well maintained and lubricated firearm. Not knocking your idea whatsoever, especially if you want to put the gun away for any length of time but for years now I've seen people treat qtips like they're the plague when it comes to firearms lol. Getting ready for the weekly range trip qtips are amazing, but storage the example you gave is perfect, especially the ones that are tough enough that can be used and washed clean acouple times.

Thank you so much for this video for beginners with the Walter PDP. I just received my and I put about 300 rounds in it. Absolutely love this weapon. But by me having arthritis, I wanted to also make sure that I didn’t have to take anyone to get it clean and I can do it myself and you made it so easy thank you for sharing this. Normally I make sure I can break a weapon down before I buy it, but it was something about this one that I jumped the gun purchased first , but grace of God I’m able to do it again. This is the only PDP field strip video I've found that doesn't show heavy scratching on the underside of the barrel from where I assume the recoil spring is contacting the barrel somehow. I first noticed it in Hickok45's PDP video and when I brought it up I was pretty surprised ( first that he actually responded to me at all) that he got inexplicably mad at me and totally discounted the very obvious heavy scratching and even metal shavings. Was a very strange way to react to a valid concern about a review of a brand new pistol at the time. Seems like maybe Walther fixed the problem or it was a QC issue but its still holding me back from purchase. Nice concise and helpful cleaning video, loved your delivery.

I recently picked up the pdp f 3.5, just got back from the range to break it in & zero it. Was using this video as guide to cleaning it. Great tips btw, I was using the brass patch holder on the slide & it seem to scratch a bit wher the serial# on the slide is, reassemble it & did a function test, still ok, idk if the scratch will do anything, I’m a first time gun owner so idk much. As well do I need to clean the striker often? I don’t see myself going to the range much but just want to know.

Cleaner lubricant preservative. It's like putting water in your whiskey to get hammered, and hydrated at the same time. The oil that I use which is either Clenzoil or Safariland CLP are cleaner, lubricant, protectants. So they break down carbon, and function as a lubricant. It takes two steps to make it work. Apply CLP, scrub and/or wipe off, apply second coat with cotton patch.

Way too much oil. Walther is pretty specific in a few drops in a few key places and not all over (especially not the slide). You do not need to clean the recoil spring assembly with oil. Just go to the Walther website and watch their videos on the right way to clean a PDP. Similar to a Glock, these are DRY pistols with drops of lubrication in key areas of the pistol which Walther details in the manual. I have over 5k rounds and mine and probably have used less oil than in this vid and it works as it should....

For the first few range trips I tend to use a bit more than is advised. Then after that it’s mainly the rails and barrel that get light lube
@Argonaut80
@Argonaut80 Жыл бұрын
I’m gonna have to agree. That’s a lot of oil. I also just put 100 rounds through a brand new 4.5in, and probably won’t clean it until after 1000, or if it begins to malfunction. If I were going to store it long term, I may have used that much oil, but would wipe as much oil off as possible before using it. Excess oil attracts dirt, that causes excessive wear.
