Very informative and helpful! As a newbie to using resin who has done most of his “how to” learning on KZbin, I would urge other newbies to watch this video early in their learning and rewatching often, don’t wait until you have a spill before knowing how to handle it. Also, thank you for the tip about NOT using alcohol to clean resin from your skin. I’ve seen too many videos of folks advising to “just use an alcohol wipe” to remove resin from skin 😳 Thank you and cheers from New England!

If your inclusions are protruding through the surface of your resin pour, you can simply add another layer of resin overtop to cover. Typically ArtResin will cure to a thickness of 1/8", so another layer should cover.

My first experience with resin and I need help. I attempted to make a faux flower arrangement using the resin to assimilate water. Some of the resin adhered to the inside of the clear glass vase, rendering it cloudy. I decided to let it stay because after putzing with the lilies which is what I think caused it, I didn’t want a total fiasco. How do I remove the cloudiness from inside the glass and also can I do a second pouring of the resin as I didn’t mix enough resin? Do I wait for a full cure? Will it look botched up? Any advice would be so appreciated - it’s for a holy altar at Church. Thank you.
@Artresin
@Artresin Жыл бұрын
Hi Linda, if you have some resin on the glass that you want to remove, you can try heating it up with a hair dryer and scraping it off-the heat will soften it and may make it possible to remove. If it is just a slight smear, you could try using isopropyl alcohol or acetone to rub it away. You can pour a second layer of resin right over top of the previous layer inside your vase. Generally we recommend pouring a second layer within 3-5 hours after pouring the first layer, the first layer will still be sticky and in a jelly like state. Alternately, you can wait for the resin to cure before adding your next layer. In this case we generally recommend sanding the first layer to give it tooth prior to pouring. In your case, the sides of the vase should make that step not as necessary.

@Artresin
@Artresin 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joanne, we recommend using your ArtResin within 12 months of the date of manufacture or within 6 months after opening. We recommend this for optimal clarity as the hardener will begin to darken due to oxidization over time. You can still use your ArtResin after this timeline and it will still cure perfectly fine.

@Artresin

Yes! Over time you may find that the surface of your resined piece gets scratched and you want to restore that beautiful high gloss finish. It is easy! Just sand the cured surface- this will give the next layer some tooth, then pour your freshly mixed ArtResin over top.

hello, i have a serious resin allergy. I made resin in this room for 1 year and 2 months, but I did not guess that epoxy was the cause of my eczema and severe itching and shedding of my dog. I had reserved a room in my house to make resin. After I realized that the cause of our allergy was epoxy, I gave up the epoxy completely and removed the materials from the house, but the tables, gas mask and hot air gun in the room are still in the room and eczema occurs on my face every time I enter the room. Also, my dog is in this situation. I thought I had cleaned the floor and the tables completely, because there is no residue that I can see. however, our reactions to epoxy continue even though there is no epoxy in the room. What do I need to do to completely purify this room? I would be glad if you help. because I couldn't find any helpful resources or articles on this subject on the internet.

Hi Ozge, we are really sorry that your are experiencing an allergy to epoxy resin. Please have a look at our blog that explains a bit about epoxy allergies: www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/can-you-be-allergic-to-epoxy-resin?_pos=1&_sid=f64f3e4bb&_ss=r Unfortunately we cannot advise on how to effectively purify the room that is giving you the problem. We would start by removing anything that could have remnants of the epoxy on it and perhaps airing the room out and using an air purifier. If it is still causing you a problem you may wish to consult a professional service to inquire about how to remove all traces of the epoxy you are allergic to.

@Artresin

If you are using thin plastic cups to mix, they are just disposable. If you wish to re-use your mixing cups it is probably best to wipe them out before the resin has cured. Thicker plastic can often be reused as the cured resin can be peeled out.

@Artresin
@Artresin 2 жыл бұрын
You will want to scrape up as much of the resin or hardener as you can. You can then try to rub out the remainder with paper towel. When we are cleaning off utensils and hard surfaces we like to use isopropyl alcohol to remove the stickiness, however I don't know how easy this would be on a carpeted surface. You could try shampooing the carpet with liquid dish soap to try to remove some more.

Double check if your 1:1 ratio is by volume or by weight. ArtResin is 1:1 mixing ratio by volume. The resin portion weighs more than the hardener portion so if it was measured by weight, you will end up with less hardener at the end.

Hi Amisha, you can fix the artwork that has some sticky spots. Just mix a fresh batch of ArtResin according to instructions then pour over the surface. Once it cures, it will seal in all of the sticky areas and leave you with a perfect finish. This can be tricky, resin adheres well to glass. I would try warming up the cured resin with a hair dryer, then try to lift it at the edges with a scraper to see if it will lift off.

@@Artresin so what would you recommend I use? Also can you use gojo on the tools?
@Artresin
@Artresin Жыл бұрын
@@Talkwithdulci We only use the Gojo to clean our hands. The best way to clean up spilled ArtResin is to wipe it up when it is wet using paper towel then follow up with some isopropyl alcohol (providing that it won't damage the surface) to remove stickiness.

How can I remove cured resin that’s in my sink?
@Artresin
@Artresin 2 жыл бұрын
You can try using a heat gun or blow dryer to heat the cured resin enough to soften it. Once it is softened you could try using a plastic scraper to lift up at the edges. Hopefully this will work!! If it is down the drain, you will unfortunately have to call the plumber :(

ArtResin conforms to ASTM D4236, meaning it is certified as safe for home use and non-toxic when used as directed, however there are some safety precautions that every user should follow: Wear gloves. ArtResin is very sticky in its liquid form, so gloves will protect the user from a mess, as well as skin irritation. Clean skin promptly with soap and water if it does come in contact with ArtResin. If ArtResin somehow comes in contact with your eyes, flush with water repeatedly and do not rub. Promptly seek medical attention. Work in a well ventilated area. Wear a respirator if ventilation is poor. See our blog for further information: www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/what-safety-precautions-should-i-take-when-using-artresin

Isopropyl alcohol or acetone work to break down the resin and thats the best way to remove the sticky residue left behind after wiping.

Can I know how to take off resin from hair
@Artresin
@Artresin 2 жыл бұрын
Uh oh :(. If the resin has not cured you can wipe the majority of it out with a paper towel, then use some isopropyl alcohol to remove remaining sticky residue, then shampoo. If the resin has cured the only way to remove will be to cut the resin out.

Oh no! Ok, the best bet is to try using your hair dryer to heat it up, once it is warm and soft use a plastic scraper or a metal scraper (carefully!) to try to lift it off. If that doesn't work, you can try dissolving it with acetone. Good luck!

Painters tape can differ greatly in quality, so it is worth trying a different type. We recommend using your fingers to really seal the tape down well, and removing your tape as soon as the resin is cured enough to handle.
