You can because they are sealed. It will clean it up nice so there is nothing left behind to contaminate the electric motor. Thats when issues arise and thats why they seize. People often think its the bearing but its usually not.

Hey man, I just got an H5 from Teamgee, its hub driven, would this work for cleaning the model I have?
@JoeKyser4 жыл бұрын
I was not familiar with the model but just looked it up. It seems to be a similar maintenance scheme. I would say just be careful when opening it. There are usually small wires there that can break easily. Also there will be natural wear and sounds will change. It doesn't mean all the time that the motor is bad or dirty. Maintenance cant hurt though. I have quality motors that years old and had plenty of use that still work good. The junk has been junk and not much you can do about that. At the very least you can crack them open and apart a little bit and then spray up into and let it run out to get all the dust and all that accumulated in it.
@Th3_W01f3 жыл бұрын
At what point would you say that one should replace the motor, for example my board have a mileage of around 700 miles, and I'm definitely starting to notice that the motors are getting very noisy, at this point do you think it would be a better idea just to replace the motors all together?

@@JoeKyser No worries at all, can't imagine it being easy to keep up. I've taken a good long look at my motors, and think it might be time to change them, the wheels have been rattling a lot, and it turns out that the metal lips that connect the wheel part to the hub motors are starting to shear off, I tired inserting some steel wire to replace the missing metal, and it worked for a while until the wire started to compress and the rattling began again. but after almost 1200 miles I'm pretty satisfied with the lifespan of the motors If I'm being honest. and the battery is also getting to a point where it needs to be switched out, so I might even go for a new more "Up-to-date" board.

Seconds. There can be lag in any specific motor at any given time for a number of reasons but for the most part they should both slow and stop at the same time. If not it could be a sign there is an issue or one arising

This vid is 2 years old but could someone help me please with cleaning my hub motors? I have a meepo nls pro ~200miles old and i recently noticed that both motors have friction as they stop faster than when i got the board new.. Plus 1 wheel stops even faster than the other. I hear no cracking noise which means there's no major debris inside the hub but it could be rusty thus the friction... So i went and bought 3 WD-40s, a contact cleaner, a silicone lubricant and an anti rust. I assume according to your video i have to remove the cap, clean the coil with the contact cleaner, then the bearing with the lubricant and the metal part before the cable with the anti rust? I know im not supposed to spray antirust on the bearing.. But would it be okay if it touched the cable or make damage? The cap and the bearing could use i assume silicone spray... Please help me :/

Mark Demarsico yes. The copper winding inside are coated with a very thin layer of plastic like material. When that gets compromised, maybe rubbed or dirt grinding on it or even heat, it is "burnt out". That one may have an issue like that. Creating more drag draini the battery fast

Before one motor slowed down a little more then the other? Shoot I have no idea. At this point I was the most active ESK8 rider in the world, logging anywhere from 10-20 miles a day. Maintence should be often and not based on how far it was used but taking into consideration where your riding and what kind of riding your doing. Maintence is just that anyway. The point of the video wasn't to show any kind of fixing because the board was used a lot. The motors could get dirty in the first use. Just be cognative that your riding on sensitive electronics. It's not as heavy duty as they want you to think. The motors do a pretty good job of keeping the junk out but they do get dirty. The drag is usually a sign of that. Thanks for watching
