For optimum TurboCell operation and life, you will need to inspect your cell approximately every 3 months of operation, or 500 hours, and clean the cell if necessary. However, cell cleaning frequency is dependent on several factors; pH and calcium levels in the water are the two that have the greatest effect on how often the cell requires cleaning. Maintaining pH between the recommended levels of 7.2 to 7.8 ppm, as well as keeping the calcium level between 200 and 400 ppm should result in the cell only needing to be cleaned 3-4 times a year.
Watch this video and follow these simple steps to clean your Hayward TurboCell.

Excellent - would've been good to see what the finished, cleaned blades look like, too.

In Chemistry we learned, "Add the acid to the water and you're doing what you oughter." Goofy, but 45 years later, I still remember.

thanks for the great video. Do you have one that shows how the tcell interfaces with Hayward Omnilogic, or how to reverse polarity on the unit?

Make sure to relieve the pressure in the system before you remove the cell.

Hi how I do that ?

Turn off your pump. At the top of your filter housing there should be a little black knob, maybe the size of a nickel. Open that knob to release the pressured air in the system. Don’t take the knob all the way off, it’ll shoot into the sky and you’ll lose it. Just loosen it enough til you hear air coming out and wait til the air sound is all gone. Once you clean the filter and put it back in the housing don’t forget to close the knob again.

Too bad those dumb ad popups come up right where the pertinent info is on the tutorial at the end.

hi yesterday i cleaned my salt cell just exactly how you showed it, everything turned off. but why is it that when i removed the cell white powder which i think is DE came out from the skimmer and from the 2 pumps in my pool? and its a lot of powder. i tried brushing it off with the pump turned ON but it just move around and settle at the bottom of the pool and makes the pool looks cloudy.thank you so much!!!

Because this video completely skipped the step where you are supposed to relieve the pressure in the pipes before removing the cell.

Had everything turned out, unscrewed one side and water just kept pouring out, after 2 minutes I reattached it. What went wrong?

Late comment but likely your super pump was still turned on. gotta leave it in closed position and let rest for 2 minutes before turning it off so then you can proceed to unscrew your T cell

Because the video did not mention that you’re supposed to depressurize the system before you remove the cell.

1 part acid 4 parts water? I don’t understand. Please explain with visual content.

This means you use 4 parts water and 1 part acid. For example. 4 gallons water, 1 gallon acid.

THIS VIDEO IS WRONG. THE PLUG SHOULD BE ON THE OTHER SIDE, THE TOP, NOT THE BOTTOM, WHEN YOU SCREW THE STAND ON. EVERY OTHER VIDEO THAT I LOOKED AT SHOWS THAT THE PLUG SHOULD BE ON THE TOP AND THE STAND SCREWED IN ON THE OTHER SIDE, ON THE BOTTOM.
