For anyone doing this, if you also have some thermal paste laying around, not recommended but I’d re apply some new paste

I needed this because my brothers' switch was brand new and rarely heats while mine was brutally used by someone and has lots of dust on the screws, on the air vents and on the air intake. To top it off it also has dust on the joycon sides.

Bru same, but good ol Nintendo used loctite screws so I stripped mine and had to take it somewhere, then when I finally get it out they use some goofy dif type of screw for the rest like cmon 💀

My switch only needed the middle screws on the handheld sides to be removed so the back plate could come off. Also double check that sd card it’s tricky to re-slot the reader so what I did was turn plug it back in gently and carefully turned the system on while the plastic back plate was off to make sure it worked. Once confirmed then I reassemble everything! Hope this helps someone else.

The same thing is happening to my NSwitch as well. Not sure how long it was until I realized this noise wasn’t normal. My console makes noise within 30 seconds of booting up Fortnite, Zelda BoTW and Pokemon games. I have a second Switch consoles that I bought cause my old dock stopped working completely (RIP). I turned on the new console and booted up a Pokémon game. That new console wasn’t making noise. I need to just buy the compressed air; I have a set of screwdrivers I bought when I needed to open my 3DS to repair batteries. Never have I opened a console before to clean vents. I am mortified thinking of doing this sometime in the week. Every four months I will open to clean the dust from the inside. At one point the fan was running so loud. I thought the console was gonna catch fire or something. So I would immediately shut down the console fully and not play any games for 2 days to make it cool down (fan still runs fast at times)

@shailyns 8 ай бұрын
Technically no, because you'd just be blowing all the dust and grossness back IN to the switch. With it closed up like that, there's nowhere for the dust and debris to go but back in and further clog up your system.

Blowing the dust into the machine does the opposite, it compacts the dust particles so they get take up more heat. IMO, disassembling and reassembling a console always looks more intimidating than it actually is. I've opened up and cleaned out my PS4 several times already. At first you stress out like "will I ever play games on it again?" After a while it becomes more logical, and you know exactly where to put what screw. Be sure to have your phone/laptop close by to troubleshoot, work on a clean, organised (preferably empty) desktop, make sure to put screws away in categories and work step by step.

I bought the switch a few hours after its launch. Mine just makes noise and at times it’s unbearable to stand. This is the last time I get hyped for a new console and purchase the first day or month of launch. I will probably wait a 6-8 months before buying next time. Just cause if this is what all the launch switches have issues with, I can’t imagine the future consoles. I’d prefer a console with less issues with the fan.

@@GuardianDiancie I just bought a new fan for 10$ and thermal paste for 8$. Took it apart. Cleaned it. Replaced fan. And it works like new. No issues. And my issue didn’t start until about 4 years into having it. I used it until the fan stopped completely. It’s not the launch console. It happens with alot of them. Depends how you take care of them.
