Spray the pitcher and spatula with 99% alcohol after you put them in double boiler and wipe them off with the paper towel. It would come out looking like it never touched wax/oils. The fragrance or any oils would also come off.

Ellie, I'm totally new to candle making but that's an awesome tip! Would a lower percentage rubbing alcohol still be ok?

If you spray them with rubbing alcohol after you wipe them it takes the scent away also.

Thank you for this video! I just began bottle cutting and candle making. This helped so much with my first question. Second, if you are using various scented oils, and one melting pot, how do you keep the pot from "cross-scenting" your next batch? I use separate stirring spoons for different scents (long bar spoons) but seems crazy to buy 6 or more pots. Thank you!

This reminds me of the time I decided to make candy apples. I created the candy coating--which was hot and melted in the pot. Then I did the apples. But afterward, the hard candy coating was glued to my pot. I was completely freaked out thinking I had ruined it. I was so upset that I decided to just fill it with water and leave it overnight and think about how on earth to salvage it (or if I should just throw it away), in the morning. In the morning, I got up and looked in the sink, and the hard candy, being mostly sugar, had melted into the water, and the pot was totally clean. I just laughed at myself for not thinking about how sugar melts in water. :) So simple. Glad I didn't throw the pot away before giving it a soak!

You mentioned you would throw the wax away. Would you not just keep it and use it again?? Surely that's a little more cost effective? Great video by the way! Helped a lot

Dont add dishwashing soap (like Dawn) to water when you clean it. If any residue is left it will neutralize the fragrance. Learned this the hard way :(

Have you ever tried mica as a colorant in candles?
@Aysan1S
@Aysan1S 5 жыл бұрын
Yes I have, short answer DONT DO IT. The Mica does not blend or dissolve in the wax thus you will get a chunk of your Mica sitting in the bottom of your candle (visible if you're using a glass jar) and you will run into wicking issues. Save yourself the trouble and get a set of candle block dyes from Amazon for $10 or use crayons (don't recommend), you can also use liquid candle dyes.

My wife threw a candle making kit at me and said she needed candles for coworkers for christmas. My oldest in classic ignore me and do what I told him not to do wasn't paying attention and put the dirty candle pot back on the burner which he apparently somehow turned on and I have burned wax at the bottom of this pot that I can't seem to get out. Anyone have any ideas? It's a smaller steel pot and it's hard to get my chubby hands inside it to really scrub.
