Have the exact same issue with my scalp. Dry flakes, irritation, open sores from scratching (although Ik I’m not supposed to be scratching anyway)...all caused from seborrheic dermatitis! If I don’t wash my locs every 2 weeks on schedule it gets really really bad. My consultant put me on to Neutrogena’s T-Gel Extra Strength shampoo. Works wonders! It helps so much! So on wash days I always wash with that before washing with the Sisterlocks Green Tea shampoo. It’s maybe 10 bucks from anywhere (Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, etc).

On my way to wholefoods now. I am only 2 weeks in and washed my hair yesterday and flakes are back so I am really excited to try this (imma ask my consultant first). Also, for an alternative to q tips, you can use felt tips ( like lip gloss applicators) that way they won’t leave lent now break up in your hair.

I put witch hazel, tea tree oil and peppermint oil in a spray bottle and I target the scalp. The peppermint gives a nice cooling sensation. It definitely helps! An Apple cider vinegar cleanse may help your scalp heal. 💖 If you continue to have issues you may want to get some neutrogena TGel shampoo. You can dilute that heavily and it will heal your scalp. Of course ACV may do the same but I am not far enough along in my journey to know. When I was natural curly though, I had a problem area in the back of my hair that would scab up, it was bad and that shampoo healed it.

I'm new to sisterlocks but I do use that brand of witch hazel for my face. I however am a stylist for 22+yrs. and I always use/recommend to clients for dry itchy and flaking scalp Keracare shampoo, will alleviate your scalp issue and flaking totally. Don't know if you can condition, if so try the conditioner too but apply it directly on your scalp.

I love your locs they are so beautiful. I too had very dry scalp and even scabs for years and years, I tried everything it was so embarrassing. I've finally found my solution so maybe it can help others too. I got a dandruff shampoo on Amazon called Nizoral and my scalp is now so normaI almost can't believe it. It was about £5 For a small bottle but it has worked wonders for me. Maybe you can give it a go.

You should use a carrier oil because tea tree oil can cause hair loss if not mixed with a carrier oil.

Greetings from Michigan I use a small glass cup with a cotton round from the dollar tree it's rough on one side smooth on the other mix with distilled water then wash the rounds out for the next time. I use diluted listerine as well. Internet trolling equals shameful PEACE

My scalp hurts a little after retightening but like you said everyone's experiences with it is going to be different no disclaimer needed. Love your sisterlocks and your little posts with your baby girl she is so adorable. Are you planning on locking her hair if she decides she wants to get them? I do care about how my hair smells but I usually used a dr.bronners soap which has like natural oils in it so any smell that lingers in my hair gets removed by it .

Tea Tree oil is TOO strong to use by itself. Only a few drops should be used in a carrier oil.
